I have read some lessons about basic Biblical Egyptology. It suggests that Moses was a legendary hero created by the Hebrews. It introduces basic information about the Pharaohs of Egypt and the course focused on the 12th, 17th – 19th dynasties. The text introduces short information about dynasties, suggests to pass the test to reveal knowledge. The main problem is that this information lacks details, it provides too short insight into dynasties and it is not enough to understand the topic. I believe that this lesson aim to provoke an interest in history and research additional information, but it doesn’t inform what sources are preferable for this. I have found additional information, but it contains different points of view of Biblical Egyptology, therefore, I would like to learn what ideas are more important in this issue.
I also got acquainted with three lessons of the Dr. of Biblical Egyptology program.
Lesson 20 deals with a summary of the theories and historical proofs. It provides information about Egypt pharaohs, their lives, and rulings. From the other side, it contains category «maybe» that informs about things that are not proved, details about lives of pharaohs. Category «no» informs about wrong information about Moses, the Pharaoh of Exodus, the activity of Solomon, the pharaoh of Exodus, and other information. It is a good idea to inform students about different categories and information that doesn’t respond reality. I realized that most information should be checked whether it is truthful. There are the historical proofs, biblical archeology of the Pentateuch, and final notes worth considering that summarize main issues. The historical significance of this course is extremely important due to the fact that Bible was the sole source for the history of the Middle East before scientific archeology. It is suggested that the achievements in the study of Assyria and Babylon resulted in the first crisis of biblical studies due to archaeological findings. In cultural and religious terms, Bible represents the only illiterate echo of the great culture of Mesopotamia. Lesson 20 suggests reviewing the theories and historical proofs about Egypt pharaohs, their lives, and rulings. I learned this information and realized how to distinguish between truthful and wrong information.
Lesson twenty-one of the Dr. of Biblical Egyptology program is devoted to the study of Moses and the Exodus. This information deals with great writers of antiquity and the history of the Roman Empire and Christianity. Eusebius and Josephus are greatly considered because they are great authors who are directly related to Judeo-Christian history. This lesson stimulated me to find additional information about Eusebius and Josephus and read their works. I did not really like them, but they are worth considering because they play important role in Judeo-Christian history.
Lesson 22 represents the end of the course summary and essay Biblical Egyptology. It summarizes course information, historical material, and Exodus-Moses theories. The course is aimed at providing independent though and future research. Above-mentioned information is summary in nature, topics of lessons relate to Biblical and Egyptian Biblical archeology.
According to the need to reveal the history of biblical archaeology, as well as the importance of mastering modern theological science, its achievements, this lesson is an attempt to describe the history of biblical archeology, and secondly, to present the results of archaeological discoveries and research according to the periods of sacred history to confirm that they were realistic and in order to understand the historical background on which they occurred. I did not effectively understand this lesson because it contains a lot of information and it is hard to understand it all. I prefer to read separate paragraphs about events, but this lesson was too complicated for me.
The main objectives of the study were the description of Biblical Egyptology, as well as the presentation of archaeological discoveries to confirm the truth of sacred history, and to understand the historical background on which they occurred. The work on the proposed thesis proved that the task was vast and difficult: first, because of the complexity of a material (for example, the encyclopedic books on Biblical Egyptology are much greater than the volume of this work), and secondly, because of the peculiar interpretation of the archaeological material, and, thirdly, because of the constant coming of new scientific data. The key problem is that information in lesson didn’t have a clear order and it was hard to switch between different information. The proposed research cannot decide all the problems and propose solutions in biblical archeology. Given the need for assimilation of a Biblical Egyptology, the work is proposed to solve this problem. It is aimed to stimulate and interest readers in Biblical Egyptology. However, I cannot fully agree that the author made readers interested in his information. I have read additional sources, but the author failed to present the task in an informative way. The good idea is to introduce tests at the end of the texts to reveal the effectiveness of material.
