The movie clip of John Adams portrayed his want of a free country. He talked about living in a country that was free while he was still alive. He wanted there to be a constitution of rules that uphold the country, and for people to not worry about their representation. “He wanted the Congressional people to understand how strongly he wanted to make the country free” (Fils, 2010). He had to get his point across to the other members of the group, and hopes that they would support him on journey of his request. He did not want any more lives to be taken, and wanted to do something about it. Thomas Jefferson had seen a future of destruction and mayhem. John Adams seen a country full of hope, freedom, and laws for the great nation.
The letters exchanged between John Adams and his wife Abigail for evident to the video of John Adams. John reflected of a free country and that law would rule nation and not men. Abigail has talked to John about this in her letter to him. She reminded John why he would not want men to rule the nation, and how they may not work well with one another and make rash decisions among the country. She expressed her sincere interest in giving women rights and not having women be under the law in society. Women were not too degraded or not allowed to do things that men could do. Abigail wanted John to treat women better than his ancient people had done in the past. Her letters helped John see what was needed for the nation, and the laws that were needed to keep order without rulers of men taking over. Her letters to him help him ask the congressional people for a free hopeful country.
