Life is a boon to every living kind. It has been the system of nature that one depends upon others for their survival. The dependency can be in different format. It can be either for the food, support, and different other variables. Humans being the social creature are dependent upon one another for their survival. The dependencies are upon the biological and physical needs of people. One helps other upon their survival fulfilling their needs at various different levels.
Human body is composed of different organs sharing common features with other bodies. Unlike some organs, different biological units are classified among different group that can be matched with other human being. At different conditions, organ transplantation from one human to other can save life of needy person. Different organs can be transplanted from person with different level of difficulties.
Blood is one of the vital component of human body. It transports the minerals and glucose to every organs within human body and is the necessary components for one’s survival. This transporting fluid carries vital substances to all parts of body. The composition of blood is made up of 55 percent plasma, 43% red blood cell, and 2% white blood cell. The categorization of blood is done under negative and positive group of: A, B, AB, and O. The average human body has five liters of blood and makes up 5-8% of human’s weight. Blood is responsible for the metabolic process for transportation of all the energy in form of glucose in different organs of body ranging from brain to tissue in foot. Like different genetic features in human, blood type is also passed from generation to generation from parents to children. The type of blood is based upon the types of blood of mother and father.
Blood is that organ in human body that can be easily transferred from one person to another person. Blood transfusion means getting blood or some part of it. Transfusion of blood and blood products temporarily replaces parts of the blood when a person has been bleeding or when their body can’t make enough blood.. Blood transplant has been a vital part of medical science that is cause for survival of human life in different point of medical treatment. It is said that, human body normally produces blood cell within the period of 40 days where the existing blood cell die and new blood cells are created. It takes a span of time for human to develop blood in their body through the normal processes. In case of medical treatment, sometime human body is in serious deficiency of blood which cannot be instantly fulfilled by the normal body process. For this, the bloods with similar characteristics are transplanted from a healthy human body to the needy body, which becomes a reason for their survival at the time.
Blood cell in human body normally dies in the time span of 40 days and is excreted from human body through different excretion process. For this, every person has two option, either to excrete dead human blood cell through normal body process or to donate it so that it can be transplanted to the needy body and becomes the reason for their survival. Taking out blood from a healthy body takes away the additional burden of body and leaves the room for the formation of fresh blood within. According to Handin, Lux, and Stossel elaborates that in most of the donors the blood volume becomes normal within 72 hours of blood donation. This can be the ground for the healthy body. A pint (unit to measure the quantity of blood that is taken out) of blood can be taken out at period of every three months. Thus, it takes time from one transplantation to another in case of donating blood.
Based upon the facts illustrated above, it is legal in every corner of the world to donate human blood. Blood are either given for money or donated as the donation of blood cost nothing but has added benefit to the donating party. Different organization around the world take the responsibility of blood donation, where the donated blood from a healthy human body is transplanted to the needy body. At every point of time, the immediate transplantation of blood is not possible thus there are several methods to store blood in different forms. The transplantation of blood is not a direct process. At several point of time, different component of blood are separated and are transplanted in different needy body according to their need. This means that a single donated blood can save life of several humans at the same point of time. Thus, it is one of the greatest charities of all time to donate human blood.
Blood donation has another positive impact upon the donor. Human blood is contaminated with various fatal diseases such as HIV/AIDS, liver related diseases, kidney related diseases, and various others as diabetes, thyroid etc. Transplantation of blood possesses risk of transforming such disease from the contaminated person to a healthy one. Thus, there are several blood checks that are performed after the donation process. Every blood check that cost a huge sum of money for the normal medication process, but it is necessary too to keep track of one’s health. On every donation, every such checkup is performed that helps ones to keep track of one’s health. This also performs free health checkup for donors as well.
There are certain requirements for the donation of blood. With reference of red-cross, the following are the general guidelines for the blood donation:
- The person donating blood must be 17 years old with at least weight of 110 pounds.
- The most needed blood types are O+, O-, AB- and B-. These blood groups are considered to be absolutely critical.
- The blood can be donated in every 56 days (8 weeks). Once donated, blood donation between these periods is considered to be of high risk.
- The person with disease such as AIDS, AIDS exposure, allergy, asthma, blood pressure, blood transfusion, cancer, cold, flu, sore throat, creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, dental, diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease/ surgery, hemoglobin, hepatitis/ unexplained jaundice, hepatitis exposure, immunization/ vaccination, infectious mononucleosis, malaria, medications, organ/tissue transplant, pregnancy, serious illness, sickle cell, skin disease and rash, surgery, syphilis/ gonorrhea and more.
There are several programs for donating blood organized by different local and international organizations. Red-cross is one of such institute that organizes such programs. These organization create a vital force to carry out the humanitarian activities in conformity with their own statues and national legislation in pursuance of the mission of the movement. There are several blood banks having capacity to store a mass of such transplanted blood in different forms. The collected blood from different donation programs are stored in such a safe environment that person at time of need can access to such institution and take the blood as they desire. The condition for taking such blood can be a nominal charge (mostly include the charge for testing different disease in blood to ensure safe blood transplant), or for free depending upon the conditions. Such organization benefits people in community in some other way. Some blood groups are rare in nature. Almost all bloods in negative blood groups (A-, B-, O-, and AB-) are rare in nature. Such organization keep track of such blood in case the stored blood can be transplanted to needy one. The organization also keeps the track of people who do have such rare blood groups. Such database helps people in finding the rare blood groups in case of fresh blood needs. Thus such organizations are taking care of all the requisites of the needy people.
Every three month in your life can save life of many people. Formation and death of cells in your blood is a normal body processes in yours, but the donation of blood which is almost worthless in your body can save life of a person. A person dying of a cause or disease who is highly in deficit of blood can be saved from your normal body processes. Nothing makes you more privileged than being a reason for you happiness. The persons passing the eligibility of such requirement can donate blood. We have always intended to help the human kind through different means. We have dream to serve human kind through different motive. Nothing is great in this world to save a human life and be a reason for ones living. Donation of blood from one person can help living different lives. A single donation of yours can save life of many people. Your one blood can take care of RBC, WBC, and platelets of three different persons. Recycle yourself, donate blood.
