The human body is wired to function normally by maintaining a certain optimum functional state. Homeostatic mechanisms ensure that the body remains viably stable by maintaining the internal atmosphere within the functional limits. Alteration of the cells functionality brings about an unusual state in the body system. Interruption of homoeostasis causes the body to respond by correcting the state in a bid to restore the normal functionality. Lifestyle decisions such as nutrition and physical exercises directly affect homoeostasis which in most cases leads to a state of disease such as anaemia.
Nutrition is a major factor that affects the homeostatic state of the body. Body cells need minerals and vitamins to facilitate their optimal functionality. For instance, failure to take foods rich in iron leads to anaemia and heart disease. Iron is necessary to enable haemoglobin in red blood cells to efficiently ferry oxygen to various body parts. Anaemic individuals suffer inadequate oxygen supply. In the effort to correct the state, the body alters cardiac output to increase oxygen supply which means irregular pulse rates that lead to failure of the heart.
Physical activity affects the functionality of body cells. Regular exercises and ample rest have a significant influence on the homeostatic state of the body. Lack of enough rest and sleep are attributed to health complications such as migraines, fatigue and heart disease. It is important to keep fit by participating in activities such as skipping. Obesity and being overweight are consequences of minimal participation in physical activities. Such homeostatic conditions can result in heart diseases.
In conclusion, lifestyle choices such as engagement in physical activity and diet directly affect the functionality of the body and can cause health complications such as heart failure. It is necessary to make lifestyle choices that favour the optimum functionality of the human body.
