Abstract
This paper comprises of a business letter and a summary of the notions which have been used to construct the letter. In the letter we have portrayed the expression of a negative message in a positive way so as not to hurt the sentiments of the reader and assure them of the healthy feelings a company reserves for its employees. We have conveyed the message of BrightWave Technologies’ decision to cut down on its employee base to the remaining people whose jobs remain unaffected. This paper has been written in the format of an e-mail with references taken from credible sources which have been cited accordingly.

Greetings from BrightWave Technology!
I am happy to announce that our venture in developing the finances of BrightWave Technology has been a success and I would like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for extending your valuable support in favor of the company. I would also like to acknowledge the fact that your talent, dedication and sincerity is of utmost importance to the company and we pride in having you all as our workforce.
However, I deeply regret to inform you all that the company has taken some decisions which are albeit in favor of our growth and development but may not appeal to everyone. Before I disclose the news, I need you all to understand that BrightWave Technologies is an institution which demands accurate results and practical decisions in order to prosper. This is quite a known fact amongst all of us who strive to make this institution a bigger and better company.
It has been quite while that we have been trying to struggle with our finances and this is not something that we are proud of. Our revenues were in sync with the insurmountable expenditures that we incurred as an organization. I do appreciate the efforts of all the individuals and departments who participated in various cost-cutting activities and introduced new ideas of operating in an optimal way. However, as much as I value your efforts, I cannot overlook or negate the facts and figures which are accurate and which do not speak in the company’s favor. For quite some time, we have seen a tremendous decrease in the sales outcome which is not at all acceptable. And to make things worse, we have also seen an amount of expenditure which is fatal for the company’s growth owing to its magnitude.
Therefore, we have been led to take a decision which is deemed necessary and is quite inevitable. We have decided to lay off 10% of our employee base in order to meet the financial needs of the organization. It is with great regret that I inform you all that some of our dear colleagues will not be participating in this journey of BrightWave Technologies any longer. We sincerely appreciate what they have done for the company; we honor their efforts and wish them all the best in any and every pursuit they indulge themselves with in the future. BrightWave Technologies also extends all possible supportive measures in order to help them deal with this unexpected, yet inevitable, change in their career path.
Now that I have disclosed this very important decision which has been taken for the benefit of the company, some of you may feel endangered in your respective positions that you hold in the company. I understand that it is only natural to feel that way. However, I assure you that you need not feel estranged or endangered in any way as all of you, who I am addressing this message to, are a part of BrightWave Technologies and will remain so in the near future. I truly value your association and support and I want you all to know that you are an integral part of the company. BrightWave needs your dedication and support in order to prosper and I am certain that you will continue to excel in your respective positions. Please do not let this decision hamper your qualitative value and know that this is the time when we need to prove our true worth.
BrightWave Technologies wishes you all the best and hopes that you will not only shine as individual contributors but will also extend mutual cooperation in order to make this venture a successful one.

Summary:
This paper required the expression of a negative message in a positive way pertaining to the corporate world. Based on our readings of some articles on this particular subject, much emphasis has been laid on the tone of the letter. This letter has been written in a professional, assuring and engaging tone so as to maintain the morale of the employees who are apparently the recipient of this e-mail. We have also taken great precaution to not hurt the ego of any individual by conveying a negative message. Logical explanations have been provided for the decision taken by the company in order to ensure that each individual understands the reason why the company decided to lay off a certain percentage of its employee base. Also, a reassurance has been provided at the mail to the employees in order to maintain their qualitative value and make them aware of how important they are in the functioning, and growth, of the organization.
