I came up with the product that used E-ink and adds video capabilities to it. Imagine that you could take your kindle and highlight texts in electronic books, or even better take a stylus and Kindle, instead of a pencil and paper and write your homework directly in Kindle and then send it to your instructor. I think that would have many benefits, not only for students, bot for the environment also.
Benefits:
Environmental – Air is already polluted and we are still cutting off trees for producing paper. Since we have e-books and use less paper books, deforestation has decreased but just a little bit. What is we will be able to eliminate usage of paper for writing homework, or decrease production of school and university books and maximally start using eBooks?
Economical – All of us spend a lot of money on books. Usually almost 70 – 80% of book prices are determined by the costs of printing and cost of materials. If we will turn to using e-books, than we will have to spend much less. In this case, I am talking specifically about class books, which are usually used just during studying the subject and then they are thrown away or they are just occupying shelves and collecting dust.
Now I am going to tell you how I am going to market my Idea. First of all I will need to protect my idea. As a developer of new product, I have to apply for provisional patent. After my application will be accepted, I will have to get fund for development of prototype. I would probably make a good presentation for Kickstarter and spread a word about my idea among all my friends and relatives. They will do the same thing and thanks to development of social networks, thousands of people will be able to get excited by my idea and help my idea with getting off the ground. When I will have enough fund I will hire an engineer, who will construct the first prototype and after some tests and improvement I will offer Kindle to buy my addition to their product for some commission of their sales, or for fixed amount.
- Why should I integrate my technology into Kindle?
- In my opinion, integration with kindle would be the best decision, because Kindle has contract with amazon. Amazon provides low cost eBooks and this goes in conjunction with the main benefit of my product “cost saving for customers”. Kindle provides to its users, very fast download of eBooks and hundreds if not thousands of books can be saved in a tiny device which is not much heavier than a copybook.
- Kindle is perfect device to integrate our technology to, because it has access to the eBooks on amazon. Amazon has lost of books and probably you will be able to find most of the books ever published.
- Kindle is popular around the world. For example, Amazon has already sold more than 5 million of Kindle Fire devices. Imagine how many customers will get the product at once if it will be integral part of Kindle.
- Kindle is very attractive for customers because of its low price and high quality and if we will have contract with this company our technology will gain customer loyalty in the shortest period.
- Integration can be pretty easy. Kindle is now using android operating system and all the additional features that we would like to add to it can be implemented by writing software plugins.
In business, we should always have a backup plan. If Kindle won’t be interested in my product, than I will contact with a factory which will start producing full scale devices developed by my engineer under my own brand and I will already have enough potential clients from Crowd funding platforms. If my product will provide benefits, I described before, than client will be happily willing to pays for this product and tell their friends about it.
