Problems & Issues
CBS is facing two major issues i.e. to urgently increase the number of blood donors in order to cope up with the increasing blood demand among sufferers and to retain existing blood donors. Since there is a constant amplification in annual demand of blood among patients, CBS is required to meet the increasing demand of blood required to serve patients’ necessities. In order to fulfill the objective, CBS needs to look out for the factors that may influence and persuade people to reach out CBS clinics to donate their blood voluntarily.
Analysis
CBS has come a long way from its origin in the 1930s to establish itself as one of the most reliable organization (Canadian Blood Services, 2016). However, due to constant increase in annual demand of blood among patients, they are required to take swift action. To fulfill the objective, CBS needs to determine factors that could potentially influence and persuade people to reach out CBS clinics to voluntarily donate their blood. CBS also needs to find ways, which could facilitate CBS to attract a larger audience to voluntarily donate blood without looking for a certain incentive. CBS is required to find out the methods that provide more efficient and convenient process for blood donation while persuading existing and regular blood donors to keep on donating in a long run. Through its all time remarkable capabilities, it has always shown up tremendous reliability in adapting and meeting demand spikes. From the case of CBS, it is analyzed that CBS requires initiating an advertising campaign to attract and persuade people. Similarly, setting up mobile collection units will also facilitate CBS to raise sufficient amount of donated blood. However, being a charitable organization, it has limited funds and resources that it may use for advertising. CBS is also faced with a somber threat of blood contamination and mismanagement, which may decrease the amount of functional blood. It is also noteworthy that mismanagement of blood could affect thousands of patients and may also lead to loss of lives. It is further analyzed that CBS could use its national support as a great prospect to attract the mass audience from the entire country because there are a number of kind individuals who want to help mankind. Apparently, CBS needs to associate with such people to make blood donation more convenient and efficient.
Alternatives
Recommendations
I would recommend CBS to go with the loyalty program, as this would allow it to advertise without paying monetary incentives to donors. Additionally, this initiative would help to create a cycle in a way that when we are fit and healthy, we can donate to ensure that when we or our loved ones will be in need, they will be returned the favor. People would not feel like this if they would do it for money and this will also propagate the genuine sentiments of helping others to get help from others in return.
