Psychology is an integral component of human life. It is an academic or applied discipline, which entails the scientific analysis, study of various mental processes, as well as human behaviors. It also involves the direct or indirect application of such experience or learned knowledge to other spheres of life and human activities. For instance, relating to people, diagnosis or treatment of mental disorders, management, and control of other societal delinquencies. It explains various mental processes and individual behaviors. It gives clear view of thoughts, self-mind, and other subconscious neurological foundation of human behavior (This paper is a reflection on importance and relevance of psychology in the day-to-day human operations and dealings. It focuses on personal, organizational or societal, as well as social impacts of psychology.
Personal Impacts of Psychology
I have gained immensely on fathoming myself. I have attained personal insights, self- evaluation, and critical analysis of personal thoughts, feelings, convictions, or behaviors. I have learned on how my mind creates perceptions, weigh decisions or subconsciously functions.
Always, mistakes are not acceptable. However, they can at times become beneficial. Provided such mistakes are not critical and making them does not result in a state of being unlinked. I have also learned that greater expectations are the driving force for performance. Psychology class has enabled me to come to terms with myself. I am in a state of self-fulfillment. I have grown in thoughts and believed that by dreaming big, one ends up achieving many things. I can now challenge myself up with more taxing goals and other responsibilities, with an aim of rising to the occasion and meeting the challenges. Leadership skills are often boosted by the study of psychology.
Psychology study has significantly influenced my power of choice. The paradox of choice is that the more choices one has, the less likely one becomes contented with a personal decision. I have learned that I should minimize my options to get a self-fulfilling decision. Currently, I focus on what contributes to happiness and do much of what defines the reason to live. Psychology has enabled me to have control over my thoughts, feelings, as well as minimizing wild or unrealistic desires. Ideally, being able to control personal feelings is important to addressing the challenges of life.
Psychology has further taught me to be specific whenever I need assistance. It is phenomenal that the more one sees people who need help, the less likelihood that person will assist them. I have learned that it is ideal to ask someone for help by name. It assists in avoiding the confusion of responsibility: The perception that one has about or mistakes is often personal. Psychology has taught me that rarely do people scrutinize others; implying people are hardly concerned with other people's affairs. Therefore, the feeling of paranoia, and self-doubt that results in every time I make a mistake does not necessarily amount to reality. People do not pay much attention to personal failures as much as I initially thought. Psychology has also built and improved my self-confidence. I have understood more about my personality, worries, strengths, weaknesses, and myself. I can confidently attest that am seriously improving on my weaknesses while building my strengths.
Psychology entails studying people. It addresses the question of who, how, why, as well as looks on what they are. It focuses on the aspect of why one acts and thinks in a particular direction. Additionally, it suggests ways on how one can improve. Socially, psychology has enabled me to build strong relationships and create more friends. I understand others easily after being in a psychology class. This has enabled me to move and live along with them easily. Psychology enables people to cope with behaviors of other individuals (Philippe, 2016).
Psychology has assisted me to improve my communication skills. By greatly understanding how animals and humans think, relate, and behave, has enabled me to communicate as well as relate better with them. I understand varied gestures, symbols, and facial expressions. I have learned why people normally act and behave strangely. Human beings are fascinating creatures. People certainly enjoy learning every strange things people do. Critical analysis of these behaviors can only be learned in a psychology class. During the study of social psychology, I have managed to comprehend why humans think, act, and behavior in unique ways from each other. I have also learned how the environment dictates social well-being and behavior of persons. Indeed, behaviors change from one environment to the other. The study has further given me insights on individual differences, and even fundamental processes in behavior, people’s emotions, coping, and health. It has also shed light on motivation and some other phenomena, which reflects either partially or fully on the social nature of people.
In organizations, psychology plays a pivotal role; especially, when dealing with various persons drawn from different backgrounds. Places such as schools, areas of work, religious gatherings, and civic organizations assemble people with different convictions, thoughts, and feelings. These people also have varied political, social, and economic affiliations. This class has enlightened me to understand these variations (Philippe, 2016). I am in a position to understand the psychology of people, their activities, or their relationship with the organization. Studying organizational psychology has enabled me to comprehend interpersonal attraction, nature or dynamics of various interactions, as well as other social relationships.
The study has further assisted me to develop my relationship with the group and the society. I have a gist on organizational processes. For instance, social influence, group decision-making, and other task performance. It has also boosted my intergroup relations as well as aggression. Moreover, it has built my pro-social behaviors; especially in a cosmopolitan place like school, the society at large, and places of work. In a cosmo-politan conation like the U.S, in which there are people drawn from various races, religion, tribes, sexes; psychology plays a significant role to enable one know how to co-exist harmoniously and peacefully.

One understands how it is done, thought, felt, and acted upon by your recipients. One does not only gain insights on characteristics of the human nature and behavior but also on their differences. Psychology further assists people to answer questions about life (Philippe, 2016). Some of these questions include how do individuals respond to stress?
