The case study addresses the issue of one of the leading higher learning institution in Australia. It focuses majorly on the technology and innovation which in turn leads to new discovery of ideas that makes the business operations generally easy in the whole world. It is through technology that we gain more ideas that enable us to better our way of living and make the necessary changes especially in the business the world. As stated in the case, BUI which is basically located in the CBD on the slopes of Brisbane River majors in this field of technology and innovation. Moreover, it is one of Australia leading universities focuses on applied courses and innovative research. BUI has more than 40,000 students (15% international students), over 4,000 staff members, and a yearly budget of more than AU$750 million.
Ways of realizing the visions and values of the institution are majorly pegged on the best leadership structure as outlined in case. This helps in the best way in which the information flows from one level of hierarchy to the other without interference. This enables the institution in achieving its visions and set values in terms of technology and innovation. Each and every level within the faculty there is a manager to oversee all improvements initiatives and ensure the deliverables of initiatives incorporate the vision and values of FTI and BUI. Most importantly some basic trainings were conducted to the stakeholders that enabled them to have the basic knowledge and information concerning the system in use which enables them to work towards achieving the visions and values of the institution.
Most importantly, SWOT analysis has been applied in order to identify all of FTI strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threat. Therefore, guidelines and best-practice benchmarks resulted from peer-reviewed observed research will be used in providing recommendations for FTI’s BPM initiative. In the need to achieve the best implementation methods in our ways of scaling our success we applied the Rosemann’s maturity model, this model adds a great deal of support in order to enhance and improve the process and findings within this assessment as well as forming a basis for effective recommendations. It is a recommendation that the institution establish an organization wide programme aims at fulfilling one ultimate reason. That is, to establish a university wide BPM CoE. This university wide programme can utilizes any of the widely used approaches such as MSP® orP3O® for its programme and PRINCE2® for its projects in order to achieve the set goals and objectives in the field of technology and innovation. It is vital to recognize that the ultimate goal behind improving the Centre of Excellence is to maximize the outcome of teaching and learning in the most cost-effective way possible with the resources available in hand.
