Once, prominent German philosopher Immanuel Kant wrote: “One is morally obligated to respect this dignity and value in oneself and in others”. This moral obligation is absolute, and it can`t have any exceptions. To hold any medical experiments on a person is possible only with the full awareness of the person about the experiment and in the presence of his or her consent to the experiment. This consent can be received only through a free expression of will. Interests of an individual undergoing any experiment must always prevail over the interests of science and society. What Baltimore's Kennedy Krieger Institute did was absolutely illegal and unethical. This was a violation of human rights and serious crime. The main reason for this is that people living on premises containing large amount of lead in wall paint were not absolutely aware of that. They were not aware of possible hazards and aftereffects of this poisonous paint. No matter, whether these people were African-Americans, Asians or Europeans, whether they were rich or having low incomes – doctors were supposed to inform them about all possible dangers and get these people`s consent on such experiments. In medicine and biology, it is impossible to carry out fundamental research and apply the results in practice, without testing anything new on a human being. These actions are well-known as experiments on human beings. They are essential at the final stage of the case study in the medical sphere. However, it is necessary to reduce the level of risk in proportion to the objectives and expected results of a specific study. The main challenge in such situation is not how to stop the medical research, but to take under control newly developed methods, as soon as they reached the experimental stage.
