Discuss why making changes such as Mitsubishi did is important both legally and improving Human resource management with the employees and managers.
It is very discouraging how women get discrimination in work places silently but legally important. Women do not get equal rights and privileges in work places and in participation of current events. Current events include participation in rally games that concentrate in marketing certain products. In Mitsubishi, a motor company that has been in existence for many years, women hardly drive the cars during test drives, something that denies women many chances in proving their efficiency. In the past, women hardly drove cars, as it was a perception in many that women easily cause accidents and their discrimination was partially justified.
Describe how disparate treatment and disparate impact were factors affecting this case
Almost all teams face challenges while taking part in marketing and advertisement. Many biweekly meetings happen through modern technologies such as teleconferencing, which limits people from meeting physically. This is how disparate treatment and disparate impact affected the Mitsubishi case Face to face, meetings are very important and they should at least occur in every six months unlike the teleconferences, which yes may be everyday but not face-to-face. These meetings should mostly depend on the locations. Managers who are the key players in any group should ensure that feedbacks relayed are on time and if possible face-to-face or through appraisals. Groups often engage in competitions, projects and regardless of whether it is an individual or a group, success recognition and celebration is very important.
Being a normal employee, Irene has to deal with so many people who work in the company. These people could be above or below him by rank but he has to make sure that they do what they should do. According to Irene, she supervises over one hundred and fifty employees and has no assistant. Having no assistant makes her work everyday and whenever she fails to attend job, things do not go very well especially in areas where she has to push employees to work. She makes sure that everything runs smooth meaning she has to go in all areas to make certain. It is her role to know who attends and who fails to attend job so that there is even distribution of work.
How would you make changes in the orientation process? What changes would you make?
According to me, an orientation must be firm but fair. This is because when a supervisor is not firm, employees will take advantage and misuse the trait of being soft. This will lead them to being unenthusiastic in their duties and poor working habits like cleaning in the evening instead of morning and attending work late. Being fair on the other hand ensures that there is even distribution of work. This is a necessary ingredient in supervision and without the supervisor is not complete.
The second quality is respect. Irene says that for her to get respect from others, she has to respect herself first and in so doing respect others. Respect is not only a good quality of a supervisor but of anybody working with human beings. This is because as a supervisor, there are many things she tells people to do off their duties and without respect, the employees cannot do them.
The third quality is humility. She does not boss around those she works with because incase of anything while in the line of duty, employees are the closest people to her and it is from them that she gets help. Being humble makes one earn respect from others according to Irene, it costs one nothing to be humble.
