Free Cell Phones Essay Sample

The cell phones are one of the important communication devices of present days, but this need not to warrant student permission to use them in classrooms. It is different from home telephones due to portability; making it easy for a student to carry it with them to learning institutions like schools and universities. Cell phones had made life easier and smooth as compared to when it had not been invented. Despite the fact that cell phones simplify life it should not be misused by student to the extent of taking it with them to class during lessons or examination period. The ever-emerging new technology has led to the emergence of smart phones, notebooks and iPad but to mention just a few. Improvement in technology means more advance cell phones capable of doing a lot for student apart from the entertainment part that also comes with them. Having cell phones in class can never be justified whatsoever. However, it should not be concluded that phones should not be used in anything education process.
The use of cell phones during lessons and examination lead to withdrawal of the attention of the student. Some of the source of distraction from cell phones include but not limited to social sites such as Facebook, twitter, Wattsup and Instagram among others. Such social sites are engaging that student will not concentrate in class since they will be preoccupied with either chatting with friends in either Facebook or Wattsup, twitting back or posting photos on Instagram. Either of these sources of distraction or a combination has an impact on the student level of understanding since there is no concentration in class activities.
Besides the distraction to the user, phones cause disruption to the entire class. Whenever a phone rings in class; everyone in that class will tend to look at the origin of the ringing sound. The sound alone is capable of making other students and even the teacher lose concentration during lessons. In addition, the ringing sound when a teacher is in the class is in itself a sign of disrespect to the teacher. A teacher on identifying a student with such a tendency will not only create a bad relationship between the two but could also lead into failure of such student in that particular subject or course. Other sources of distraction to the student originating from phones is games installed in cell phones, phone features such as cameras, in-built radio or television and voice recorder among others.
