Growing up in a very unstable country has brought many challenges to my educational experience. I grew up in a time where instability in the government and daily life had become normal. My challenges faced in and out of school has shaped me to the person I am now. I started my education at the University of Notre Dame in Lebanon (NDU). I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science. The first two years were a struggle because traveling and attending college was not that easy. The University of Notre Dame is a good distance from my home. During the first two years of traveling to college, I encountered protests, threats, and political events. These were just some of the obstacles that I faced during the important beginnings of my college education.
After some time had passed, I was not satisfied as to where my position was in college. As the atmosphere became less stressful, I took it upon myself to improve my grades and began to concentrate heavily on my future. My last two years in college was where I shined the most. My performance earned my name on the Dean’s List. I chose computer science for my bachelors, as technology was of interest to me. During my final years in college, I also had the pleasure of interning for two technology companies. During the internship, I designed a current events website. The website received praise by the supervisor along with positive feedback as to its accuracy. Upon completion of my internship, I was given the title as junior developer. Working as an intern for these companies inspired me to appreciate the corporate world on a deeper level. Throughout my professional and educational experiences, I discovered that finance was where I flourished the most. With being very efficient with numbers, analytics, and understanding the functions of corporations, I am now looking to branch out into another field that I have great talent in with the hope that it will compliment my current bachelor’s degree. I believe a master in finance will not only be a great addition to my learning experience but will also accelerate my driven path to pursuing a meaningful and successful career in both fields.
I make a great candidate for the graduate program in finance for several reasons. I will take the opportunity at hand and strive to my full potential to not only get outstanding grades but to absorb the knowledge that is taught to me and turn it into something meaningful. Having a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in finance will help give me the foundation needed to enter the corporate world with multi-talented force. Being trilingual in French, Arabic and English, helps my ability to adjust to different culture and surroundings effectively. These two degrees complement each other well as both industries are rapidly growing. It would be my goal to venture into a career with a technological corporation in the finance department or vice versa. My future relies on accomplishing goals, learning through education and working towards success.
I am the perfect example of someone who struggled and rose above with hard work and determination. I will bring all my hard work into this masters program, along with all of my professional endeavors and believe that the masters in finance will definitely shape my future towards making a positive impact in both finance and technology.
