I have chosen to change my behavior from a smoker to a nonsmoker. Over a period of one week, I took data on my smoking behavior. Through self-monitoring, I established that I smoke 2-3 cigarettes during the night. I did not smoke during the day as I am always busy. I have established that due to the idleness experienced during the night, I tend to smoke.
During the day, I exercise 5-6 days a week for 2-3 hours each day. In order to achieve my goal, I have decided to increase the intensity of my workout during the day. Due to fatigue involved with such workout I will be able to sleep early during the night. I will also experience undisturbed nights hence very little chance of experiencing idleness.
Since I am active during the day, I will be sleeping early so that I can start my days early. This will increase the length of my day time hence reducing the time I have during the night. I am also planning on learning self-control, which will help me avoid the temptations of smoking. The change of my day’s activities will help me get little free time when I can free idle and the need to smoke.
This will help me change my behavior.
I am motivated to change my behavior by the fact that it is healthy to be nicotine free. Smoking has so many negative effects on my health. I am determined to live a healthy life. I will use this motivation to enhance my commitment to the behavior change project. I know that with discipline, commitment, and faith, I will be able to change my behavior within a short time.
