In order for any organization to function properly, effectively and productively, communication is a vital aspect to be considered. The flow of information, which is what communication is, should be perfect, meaning that the information being transmitted should not be distorted, and the receiver has to obtain it in the manner in which it was intended. To achieve this, the hierarchy of an organization has to be in such a way that both the upward and downward movement of information through the employees maintains the original nature of the information. Culture is a factor which affects communication between two organizations, which have merged to work together, which is an upcoming trend in the current developing world. For culture to be maintained and communication enhanced at the same time, the organizational structure of such organizations has to be recreated to blend into the newly adopted a system of improving productivity of these organizations.
The above is a sample of a restructured organization chart, which Aerospace Corporation in China can adopt to enable it function properly as a merged company, having acquired Engineering Corporation of the United States. The new structure is deemed to function properly because of the following reasons. Foremost, introducing an International Relations Director is more than an advantage to an organization because the roles he/she plays are very helpful. The position is accompanied with responsibilities such as translation of language that enhances understanding between organizations whose default languages are different. During meetings, language will no longer be a barrier to effective communication. The International Relations Director is expected to know the culture of whatever other organization with which they merged. This improves communication in that one organization will know in what way to associate with the other thus increasing productivity in the long term. Employing of qualified personnel across the border is also made possible with the presence of the IRD in the organization. These are just, but a few to mention the several communication improvements accompanying the introduction of an IRD.
The human resource Manager is also another employee whose introduction is set to improve the communication within and without an organization. He/she has the responsibility to ensure that the relationship between other employees is maintained at a professional level and that no personal relationships affect the performance of the organization’s productiveness. Apart from the two mentioned personnel, having one senior vice president who is second to the CEO comes with communication upgrades including stepping in for the CEO upon his/her absence. This ensures that, at any given moment, the organization functions usually, which means that any information intended for the CEO can be channeled to the Senior Vice President.
Need for new communication flow is on the rise in most organizations all around the globe. This is due to the much importance given to the communication factor as it is an important aspect in increasing productivity. Culture of an organization is to be maintained as it is important in dealing with issues pertaining managing change, managing customer relationship growth and leadership. Shared assumptions, beliefs and values of the organization that define how it functions are what culture is considered as. These values if not upheld then it leads to deterioration of the organization’s culture.
In the communication flow of an organization, there are barriers which disrupt the smooth flow of information. Barriers such language will hinder the employing of better qualified personnel except in the language sector. Even if the person is employed, giving orders will be difficult, and also reports from the employee will need translation. There are technological problems, which also hinder the smooth flow of information. This problem is, however, being overcome with most of the organizations due to the better equipment that are evolving in the communication industry. Many more problems hinder communication but only at a personal level.
