Scenario
Mitchell is a 15-year old girl who lived a miserable life as a teenager. Her parents were separated when she was 5 years old, and her Aunt took care of her after her mother died due to serious depression and committed suicide in front of her.
However, her Aunt’s live-in partner molested her when she was 13 years old. She attempted to tell her Aunt about the situation but she noticed that her Aunt was on denial about the act of her partner.
Nowhere to trust in the family, she made friends with other teenagers engaged on drugs and gang. She started hanging out with her friends when she was 14. A concerned neighbor extended assistance to rescue Mitchell from her misery and addiction of using cannabis and engaged on pre marital sex with different teenagers of her age.
Mitchell’s neighbor noticed her unconscious across the street and after she was brought to the hospital, she was chilling with high fever. The doctor diagnosed her with severe trauma and the worst part, Mitchell is 3 months pregnant. The doctor advice her neighbor to take her to rehabilitation center for thorough care especially the baby.
In this scenario, parents are responsible for their child and its future. Parents should be aware that addiction is powerful that would destroy the life of a child or teenager. Teenagers are very adventurous and never hesitate to try substances that cause addiction, especially when depressed. This kind of scenario can be prevented if parents are there to protect their child. If parents are separated, still they can act as parents for the welfare of the child.
