Report on Cocaine Haul Intercepted Along Java Road
This report was written by Agent Horowitz when he intercepted a haul of 100 kilos of cocaine. At 12:20 p.m. on November 18, 2013, I, Agent Horowitz, while on normal patrol along Java Road in New York State, intercepted 100 kilos of cocaine and also apprehended the suspect, Mr Alex Rosamilla (DOB O6/12/1986) who was transporting the haul. I took him to New York State custody but owing to the nature of his crime, I transferred him to federal custody (Barnas, 2013, p.84). I called Supervisor Agent Fallon and briefed him on the arrest. I informed him that I was on the way transferring the suspect to federal custody. He asked that I debrief Mr Alex.
At the federal court house, I read the charges and possible penalties to Mr Alex Rosamilla. I informed him of his right to have a lawyer either hired by himself or provided to him at no cost and his right to remain silent (Cartwright, 2010, p.154). I made him aware that anything he said may be used against him in a court of law. He said he was ready to talk even in the absence of a lawyer.
He claimed he was innocent and that the cocaine belonged to his girlfriend named Samantha White. She was a Canadian living in the address 434 West 33rd Street, New York, NY, currently on a business trip to Jamaica and that she would be back in a week. She had called Mr Alex from Jamaica and requested him to deliver the cocaine to a client named Jack Jonnes who would be waiting at Sweet Candy Restaurant to give him direction to his address.
I recommended that he be placed under police custody until his girlfriend, Samantha is arrested to assist in the arrest of her client, Mr Jack Jonnes.
