What is a worldview?
The term worldview refers to an intellectual interpretation of reality, the world or universe. Evidently, has a view, and though it has greatly been shaped by the thoughts of others, each has a unique perspective.
The Question of Origin
The Question of Origin asks, “How did life start?” and “how did mankind come to existence?” The bible tells that God (Genesis 1:1) created everything that exists in the universe. The verse explains that God created the heaven and earth. The bible also tells us that God created humans on the sixth day (Genesis 2:7). The book of Genesis narrates the story of creation.
The Question of Identity
The Question of Identity asks, “What does it mean to be human?” The bible says that God created human using his own hands instead of just speaking and making things happen like in the case of how other things came into existence (Genesis 2:7,22). The bible also tells us that God created human being in his own image (Genesis 2:15).
The Question of Meaning/Purpose
The Question of Meaning/Purpose asks because the existence of humankind (Weider & Guiterrez, 2011). However, others believe that the reason to exist is to know God (Weider & Guiterrez, 2011). The Bible teaches that a man should love God and serve him (Deuteronomy 11:13). Modern Christianity defines the purpose of humankind is to know the true God (John 17:3).
The Question of Morality
The Question of Morality refers discerning right from wrong and defining people should live. Relativism maintains that true depends on the society or individual and is subject to change (Weider & Guiterrez (2011). Traditional Judaism holds that a man builds a good relationship with God through good deeds (Exodus 20:6). Second Timothy 2:15 teaches that a man should present himself to God without any bad behavior.
The Question of Destiny
The Question of Destiny asks, “Is there life after living on earth?” The Apostle Paul says that God made all plans for the future of humankind even before He created Adam and Eve (2 Timothy 1:9). In Jeremiah 29:11, God says that He knows the plans for everyone meaning that humankind should not worry about tomorrow as long as they live according to God’s commandments.
How might/should a biblical worldview influence the way you think about, treat, and speak to others on a daily basis?
Jesus instructed his followers to show their love for him by loving others. God views everyone as equal and we should acknowledge equality. Our personal interactions with other people should be respectful and peaceful, always representing the desires of God to treat other with humility and respect.
How might/should a biblical worldview impact the way you treat/interact with the environment and non-human creation?
Humankind was created in the image of God, and superior than the rest of creation, and tasked with the responsibility of taking care of the universe. As such, Christians, should lead in causes of animal rights and environmental sustainability. However, we must take precaution not to worship any other creation over the creator.
