1) Do criminal justice professionals view crime differently from civilians regarding the elements of a crime? Explain your answer.
Various views are different between the civilians and that of justice professionals. Many people think that a crime is only considered after it has happened, yet justice professionals, advice that details of a crime are considered even before the offense occurred, especially when the criminal was planning the particular crime. It is also important to document even the smallest details of a crime; many people think that the offense is all about the major event that occurred (Report Writing – Elements of the Crime, 2013). It is vital to consider even the minor details, for instance, in a drive-by shooting a small detail could be where they got the gun from and when. The government will recognize a crime no matter which on it is, many people tend to think that if one commits a white collar crime the charges will not be as bad. In essence, if one uses their position, or class to commit a crime he/she will still be treated as a thief and will still face the charges regardless of their position (Schmalleger, 2014, p.67-68).
2) Are there particular concepts in the text you are having a difficult time grasping? What are they and how can we help you better understand?
The concept that was quite challenging was the types of laws; the definitions were extensively provided. However, I would have achieved better understanding if examples of how they are applied were provided. Alsop more concentration has been accorded to criminal law; it would be better if more information were also provided on the other types of law. Another aspect that posed quite a challenge would be the various violations of criminal law, a better understanding would be achieved if more practical examples were presented to enable the reader relate to and grasp them in a better manner.
