Research is a vital aspect of how we receive process, retain, and gather information. Research can be offered in two forms; primary and secondary. Which form of research would you rather use in order to complete academic assignments? Explain your answer by supplying at least two statements to your thinking.
Research; the methodical analysis and study of sources with an aim of establishing truth, is a core part of a college student’s life. Students are however provided with an option of which type of research to use. They can either use primary research which entails the collection of original data or secondary research which entails collecting information from existing sources. As a student, I would prefer using secondary research in the completion of my academic assignments since I find this type of research more appropriate compared to primary research. Consequently, my preference for this type of research is backed by two main reasons.
Initially, I find secondary research more appropriate because of the easy access to information required. When using this form of research, I can obtain the information needed from Newspapers, books, online journals, online school libraries and other useful websites. This process is however not tasking as it only involves the ‘click of a mouse’. Consequently, this will help me manage my time effectively as a student as compared to the time consuming process of gathering date involved in primary research.
Additionally, I find secondary research more effectual with reference to cost. This is because information can be acquired freely from books or online sources. Being a student therefore, I may not have the resources needed in the application of primary research which require additional costs in the administration of research instruments like questionnaires. Secondary research to me is therefore the best approach in completing my assignments
