Free Cyber Bullying Essay Sample

The advent of technology has come with many advantages and disadvantages. One of the disadvantages of the technology is cyber bulling. Cyber bullying is the harassment of other people deliberately, repeatedly and in hostile manner. Cyber bulling occurs in several ways.
It involves spreading of malicious rumors, gossips which are aimed at bringing hate in the minds of others or the publication of defaming and humiliating information about a person with the aim of taking control of the person’s emotions. It also seeks to intimidate, humiliate, put down, and falsely discredit the recipient have been identified. Most cyber bullies target children and teenager whose emotions are still developing and hence vulnerable to manipulation. For example, someone has been spreading rumors about my relationship with my parents.
Cyber stalking has also been taking place which mainly involves accusations which are false, undue monitoring, threatening, identity theft, data damage, sex soliciting, gathering information with the intention to harass among others. This happens through the social site where one has the capability to use pseudo names and hence be difficult to identify them. Someone has been soliciting sex from me through my Facebook account for some time. The person seems to change the accounts once I have blocked them and still be able to inbox me.
Children who are cyber bullied/stalked are more prone to use alcohol and other drugs, skipping school, develop low self-esteem, poor health, isolation and other anti-social behaviors which can affect the developmental milestone of the child. The reason to feel isolated is because of the feelings associated with the cyber bulling. One may not even tell whether the bully is in the same environment with them. I feel uneasy when in social places when I remember the issue a stalker has been raising through my Facebook account.
In conclusion, cases of cyber bulling have increased over time. Since they are affecting me, I plan to report all the case I encounter to the authorities and my parents in time. I would propose that a cyber-bully report platform be developed for reporting all the cyber bullies for the right actions.
