International Cooperation
One of the reasons that multinational organizations have been able to succeed in foreign countries is through diversification and differentiation. In order to achieve these two very important aspects, the organization has to understand and respect the culture of the home country. One of the best ways to prevent culture related problems is through workforce diversification. An organization may involve employees from the host country in order to include their cultural values and norms.
In addition, the organization may develop cross-cultural training programs for employees to learn the culture of the host nation, (Parrotta, Pozzoli, & Pytlikova, 2014). Training enables the employees to learn the dos and the don’ts of the new culture as well as how best to interact with the people of the host country. Language is also an important part of culture and the ability to speak the official language of the host country is as important as diversity. Once the organization has the right people from different backgrounds, it becomes easier to create an organization culture that is not viewed as foreign.
A diverse workforce is more productive and creative. An organization may also develop a visual structure of the workforce and develop means of resolving cross-cultural conflicts, (Parrotta, Pozzoli, & Pytlikova, 2014). Another method would be to create an organization that the people of the host country can identify with. This is a type of diversification that allows the organization to enter a new market after thorough research and understanding of the new environment and culture. This way, the organization can eliminate culture related conflicts. According to Barak (2014), respectful relationships are important for the success of a multinational organization in a foreign country.
In conclusion, any international organization requires an effective communication between all the stakeholders. Through effective communication, the organization develops a relationship with the stakeholders. The organization may then develop a good corporate social responsibility plan that will help establish relationship with the people of the host country.
