Young adulthood
Individual development involved how a person passes through various stages in life from his or her birth to his old age. Michael Williams is a 72-year old living in Texas. His lifelong development has proven resilience and persistence as he has moved through the hierarchies of poverty to develop a rich life to himself. During his young adulthood, Williams developed strong physical body muscles. He undertook many exercise activities, which made him masculine and well built. He was also tall, developing from 4ft upwards to 5.8ft by the time he was 22 years old. There were no observable changes in his physical functioning. However, changes in growth and strength could be seen through his well build body. He separated fighting boys as if they were too light for him. He grew in height and strength through his young adulthood.
Through his young adulthood, Williams developed higher thinking capacity and problem solving skills. He developed mixed morals with some aspects of his morals such as respect, reasoning, and religion improving while his sexuality declined in the wake of adolescence. He started to believe in his ability as a young adult. Williams insisted that he would make a wonderful lawyer in his old age. He ended up a respectable businessperson after pursuing law at the university and investing in various businesses. Williams lived a social life, interacting with all people constantly. He developed many friendships, which grew from his initiative. The friendships grew because he was outgoing and free with all people. He has high interpersonal skills, which helped him in developing and enhancing the friendships.
Williams developed his relationships on trust and mutual understanding. He lived well with his family where every person respected his strength in decision-making. Williams lived a bachelor’s time for most of his early twenties. However, he found love at 25. Winnie Wahl became a wife to Williams through a glamorous wedding in New York. Together with Winnie, Williams has three children and their marriage is peacefully. The marriage has lasted all the time. The three children were planned, basing on the spacing between them and their educational gaps.
Middle Adulthood
Williams dreamt of becoming a lawyer until he was on internship and a top law firm in the United States of America. He changed his mind and started in business because he thought his skills in the field were well molded. He was right, as he owns a large booming business in the United States based in New York. Hailing from a family that had no lawyers, he thought law was the best career. He was disappointed and did not like the career hence he had to quit. I think he loves his business career to date and he would not choose any other career. The business field faced competition more than discrimination and the fact that he employed himself also helped him in dealing with the challenge of unemployment.
As the first-born child, he had to provide for his old parents while at the same time taking care of his your siblings. He loved his family members, from the youngest to the eldest, and took good care of them. He played baseball during his free time. He never played any competitive matches in the sport. However, he enjoyed it for leisure purposes.
In his young adulthood, Williams showed no major changes in physical growth. He remained well built, constantly engaging in sports and other engaging activities. The only thing that stressed Williams was his business. He was only worried about the next competitor. Williams put his heart in his business and he would not let his business fail for any reason. During his middle adulthood, he started making corporate friends and engaging in corporate hangout. His character did not change. He accommodated many people and made major decisions. He maintained close relationship with his family, although his father passed on in his late 20s while his mother passed on when he was 48. At the same time, he loved his new family, with his wife and children enjoying his company all time. He developed through the stages, leaving no stage demanding. He spent time with friends, workmates, employees, partners, and all people affiliated to him. This did not deter him from spending time with his family.
Late Adulthood
During his late adulthood, Williams still developed a cheerful life. He appeared at the baseball training grounds to watch young people play. He has also maintained close contact with family members and friends. Although his body still looks strong and well built compared to his age mates, he has reduced in very large measures compared to his middle adulthood. He has a slender body and appears weak. He does not make decisions fast as he did a few years ago. He thinks over situations slower than in his middle adulthood. This is in coherent with the trait of losing memory common, which presents as a person ages (Nicholas, 2008). However, Williams has maintained the ability to make quality and working decisions. Williams also developed prostate cancer during his mid-50s. Many people think it is a result of his busy life, but the doctors attributed it to his diet in his late 40s and early 50s. His mental retention rate also went down significantly with as he aged (Nicholas, 2008).
When his mother died, Williams was depressed. He kept on with the death of his father because at least his mother remained alive. However, he mourned his mother as if he was mourning the two parents together. From the death of his mother, Williams developed a highly pessimistic and negative attitude towards death. He feels that the death takes away the best. Compounding his issue, his niece also died in a car accident when Williams was 55. A year later, he was diagnosed of cancer. At old age, people mainly start experiencing complications due to reduced body immune (Nicholas, 2008).
At a conference in New York, Williams delivered an emotional speech to young people on taking opportunities in life. He explained to them that chances come once in life and if they are not utilized, people live to regret their lost opportunities. He also explained his worst dream where he says he encountered the dead image of his father asking him why he quit law for business. His father harassed him in a dream and tried to convince him back to law. He was holding a knife. However, when he insisted that he was interested in business. His father smiled at him and told him to push on with business.
Williams’ life shows systematic development through different stages developing relationships and links that later helped him in life. His resilience and outgoing nature made people to love and trust him even when he made mistakes. He lives on and tells his grandsons that they must aim for greatness.
