Leadership refers to an individuals' ability to motivate, influence and help others to contribute towards success and effectiveness in an organization. On the other hand, management involves controlling and directing a team so as to coordinate and harmonize it towards achieving set goals and objectives (Prahalad & Hamel, 2006). For any business to realize expected outcomes, both management and leadership must coordinate. Management creates room for leadership to motivate the workforce and develop it so that it becomes focused towards the accomplishment of visions and inherent duties. Many companies regard management skills since they provide individuals with new ideas aiming at developing a positive culture towards work.
In the modern-day launching of a new services or products is a bit different from traditional strategies. It requires the leaders to establish a strong strategy to ensure success during product and service launching. For instance, the leadership in our organization decided to introduce the use of smartcards to ease long queues in different stores. The project was introduced quite late following lengthy deliberations. This needs to change, as a leader, I will ensure to start early when contemplating to introduce a new product/service in the future. I will ensure that adequate preparations are made to ensure that every employee is aware of the new product. More, importantly I will ensure that the product or service is available to potential influencers/buyers at the right time. Influencers are critical during product and service launch as they are friendly to prospects, customers, and bloggers who have a larger presence on the online platform. The influencers can encourage customers to use the product or service and also spread information to others.
Additionally, another critical aspect of leadership strategy during product introduction is to get all partners involved in the process (Bolden & Gosling, 2006). When all marketing partners are incorporated in launching a new product, there is a greater likelihood that the business will realize the success of its set goals. When people frequently talk about a release, there are better chances of the product or service picking up quickly. In addition to that, as a leader, I will ensure to spark introduction of goods and services in which I am confident that the target group will be willing to learn. This will aid demonstrate competency in my capability to lead. Leadership Competencies are behaviors and skills that lead to superior performance geared at accomplishing set goals and objectives (Bolden & Gosling, 2006). Competency-base strategies are essential as they help an organization in launching a new product or service.
I will be at all times display impeccable levels of competency when launching new company products. Competency varies from the firm’s experience and skill in particular activities, rather than the use of physical assets. Since the company has technological strengths, launching smartcard can be an added advantage to counter competition in the market (Turner & Müller, 2005). The management competencies have the capability of developing new services and offer a potential access to the larger scope of the markets. The management is also required to contribute positively to creating awareness of the benefits that accrue from the new product and service. Also, the company strategies should be unique in that the competitors cannot imitate.
Developing leadership and management competencies is important as it will help the organization to identify loopholes when launching a new product or service. It will help in influencing people to accept and be willing to learn about new product and services. These strategies can help the workforce to work as a team more especially when they are involved in giving ideas into the whole process. Goo management and leadership skills can assist the firm to realize its set goals since because of the increased levels of coordination of every activity.
