Differentiating some groups with other groups, differentiating people with other people, comes under the preview of diversity. Appreciating the differences in origins, age, religion, colour disability and many such other aspects has its meaning in diversity. Due to the differences in demographic and philosophical profiles, individuals and groups have created a stark reality called ‘diversity’. There are attributes that belong to one own’ s group and those of attributes of the other groups, which needs to be supported, acknowledged, create a climate of mutual respect and equality. Diversity is a sentient attempt where there is understanding and appreciating cultures and natural environment. Respecting your own practices and that of other cultures/groups and knowing other groups. Recognising that discrimination can be advantageous for some and disadvantageous for others and acknowledging that is vital in running global business organizations. In order to cease all kinds of discrimination, one needs to create unions between groups/cultures.
There is diversity in society because of people. Groups against one group has its differences. Likewise in the same group there are differences. Background of a person may not be the only factor for diversity, it could be beliefs, appearance, race, etc. Diversity actually brings in a lot of learning among people. Diversity can actually fortify communities, bring growth to individuals and create a healthy society .
Diverse environment prevents discrimination. Diverse environment in organisations increase productivity, improve relations, increase retention, adapt to the changes, cater to a variety of customers, achieving goals in a shorter period of time. Demographically diverse groups are more likely to follow the footpath of growth rather than otherwise. “Diverse organisations will have a direct correlation with growth, adaptability to change across cultures, groups, unions and countries” is the thesis statement.
