Donald John Trump is one of the most famous American businessmen and television personalities both in the United States and out of them. He is the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts, the Grand Hyatt, the President of the Trump Organization, and also one of the founders of the NBC reality series The Apprentice, a show that judges business skills of its participants. Nowadays, Trump is also a candidate for Presidency from the Republican Party in the 2016 election. The name of Donald Trump means the story of American success, defines standards of perfection in real estate, entertainment, and business. American people equally admire his personality and skills, and mock at his whims. However, as if people behave to him, Donald Trump is definitely an outstanding man. This paper is dedicated to overviewing of his life and analysis of personal values that made him a person he is now. Trump, like every other human on Earth, underwent ups and downs, but never gave up and never backed down, mostly due to his persistence, creativity, and ability to resist pressure.
At first, it is necessary to give background information about Donald Trump’s life. Trump was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York, in the family of Mary Anne, a philanthropist and homemaker, and Frederick Trump, a real estate developer. He has two sisters, Maryanne and Elisabeth, and one brother, Robert. Donald had always been a very smart and active child. In 1964, he graduated from the New York Military Academy, where had been a leader both in social and academic areas, and entered Fordham University, but in two years was transferred to the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1968, Trump got degree in economics, and started to work in his father’s own real estate company, Elizabeth Trump & Son Co. Donald’s father was a hero to his son; namely just to him, Donald decided to enter the sphere of real estate development. One of the first Trump’s projects was the reconstruction of the Swifton Village apartment complex located in Cincinnati, Ohio. In less than two years, Fred and Donald developed the complex and took it to a new higher level later solving for almost seven million dollars (“Donald Trump's Bond Hill connection”). In 1971, Trump moved and settled in Manhattan, where started a number of construction projects noticeable for attractive architecture. The same year, he got a control over his father’s company that became The Trump Organization later. Trump’s unusual projects let him get high profits and attracted much attention from the public. Every next year, Trump worked for expansion of his Empire. In 1977, he married Ivana Winklmayr, his first wife who played an important role in achieving of his purposes. Then he started to investigate the profitable business of casino gambling, and later founded Triumph Entertainment Resorts, a number of casinos in Atlantic City, at the same time continuing to develop his main business of real estate.
However, it is worth noting that Trump’s career has not always been successful. During his life journey, Trump has faced ups and downs, and here it is necessary to emphasize one of his main values – persistence. For example, in 1990, the real estate market underwent decline. The same year, just before this, Trump was busy with big development project in Florida. He bought Eastern Air Shuttle in order to turn it to Trump Airlines, luxurious way of air travelling. This company never brought Trump any profit, and the following crisis had a great impact on the Trump Empire, which started to bring significantly less income than before, and also on Trump himself, “his own net worth plummeted from an estimated $1.7 billion to $500 million” (“Donald Trump Biography”). The Trump Organization was next door to bankruptcy; it required considerable credits and loans in order to survive. Everybody was waiting for Trump’s collapse; he, however, could climb back and increase his capital assets four times for less than ten years. Another bright examples of Donald Trump’s persistence are Trump casinos. In 2014, three his casinos located in Atlantic City, Trump Entertainment Resorts, “filed for bankruptcy for the fourth time” (Trump’s 16 Biggest Business Failures and Successes”). After that, Trump distanced himself from the owners of the company; but the main words attention should be paid on are “for the fourth time.” This means that Trump Entertainment Resorts experienced bankruptcy for three times before, and every time survived it and reopened again. Trump was relieved from the post of Chairman of the Boards of Directors in 2009, when the company filed for bankruptcy for the second time; however, he did not gave up when it happened the first time, and immediately carried into force the restructuring plan. One of the main Trump’s secrets is his commitment to success and ability to make efforts, even if in the end they are ineffectual.
Another one of Donald Trump’s great values is his vision of innovations and ability of their creation. He has always been dynamic and creative person, and he is capable of finding sources of inspiration everywhere around him. Trump is known for having unusual and eccentric friends, attending groups and organizations that push progressive and lateral ideas, often publically saying unexpected and rude phrases. Rehn states, “For Trump, there is no building that doesn’t look better with his name in flashing lights, no display of wealth that is too garish, no statement that cannot be improved by making it even more extreme” (“Donald Trump, Creativity Guru?”). He has that rare characteristic property other people should learn; Trump takes enjoyment in all his ideas, no matter how crazy or abnormal, and in their implementation. Name but a few, Eastern Air Shuttle mentioned earlier; Trump came up with the idea of creation of luxurious airlines, bought Trump Shuttle, and spent a lot of additional money on floor with maple-wood veneers, gold-colored bathrooms, and chrome seatbelt latches. His idea simply cried about its failure, but Trump, nevertheless, was persistent and did not afraid to try; that distinguishes him from others. The same can be said even about the 2016 election company; Trump differs. He differs from every other candidate for Presidency. Donald Trump does not match other politicians and does not build his speeches on the base of what he should do and who should be; he just has his own path and follows it. Trump came from the world of business; he is not afraid of risk and sees world at completely different angle. As it was mentioned above, during his career, he underwent ups and downs, and some of his beginnings seemed to be crazy and doomed to failure. However, he was not afraid to materialize them and to fail, if it comes.
In conclusion, it is important to say that Donald Trump is one of the most extraordinary men ever. It is hard to behave to him unambiguously; some of his words and deeds really shock. However, at the same time it is hard to underestimate Trump’s values: persistence, creativity, and ability to resist pressure and to do as pleases. Trump shows a bright example of a person who is not afraid to come up with even the craziest ideas, make efforts in their materializing, and to fail, but only after doing everything possible to keep them running. These are those streaks everybody should keep watch over at and develop in him or herself.
