Teaching Statement
The best descriptions I can give with regard to my teaching style include enthusiasm, perseverance and creativity. As an English teacher in Saudi Arabia, I have to keep the energy of my students alive and spirited. Living in an Arab country has motivated me to teach phonetics to young students, but also to adult learners who want to master the English language. Growing up as a kid in Saudi, I had to learn the English language when I was just 15 years old. It was a very challenging experience for me since I had to learn English as my second language. I also want to share my own experience to my students in order to motivate them and keep them in high spirits even though learning English can be a difficult task to some foreigners.
I also believe that perseverance is important in teaching since I have to focus more on proficiency of the language because my students have been listening to English from various sources such as movies and songs. In fact, when some of my students are traveling, they have been exposed to English slang of different cultures. However, they were never forced to actually conform to the language. Patience is also essential in teaching since there I strive to reach out to each of my students in order to make sure that I am provide effective instruction. I make sure that I talk to my students to be able to get personal feedback on my method of teaching.
Creativity is another element to encourage and motivate my students to study harder. Being able to guide my students to learn the concept of diversity of people and places will help them to broaden their knowledge.
