Part one
A business degree in the contemporary world can be beneficial to an individual in any industry. These industries may include but not limited to investment, music and film production, transportation, manufacturing, banking among many others. With a business degree, one can become an accountant, system manager, administrator among others depending on the industry one is interested or specialized in. A business degree cuts across all industries and it is recognized as an education advanced therefore, it is a leading or integral and smartest way of obtaining promotion, expand one’s career path and enhance job qualification and fulfillment. Acquiring a business certificate in college or university has many advantages that make one stand out in the employment industry. The most obvious reason is that the course comes with three options which market themselves in the job industry. These are; bachelor degree in business or economics, associate’s degree in business and a higher level which is the master’s degree in business administration. The course has other many branches within its scope that specialize in particular fields such as marketing, accounting, business leadership among others therefore giving me a diverse selection option.
My decision to pursue a business degree was entirely based on the advantages that result from holding such a degree certificate. First, the skills acquired are valuable and necessary in one’s career development and advancement in promotion into business leadership. These skills which include education in commerce, information technology, marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship, operations among others are a necessary tool in the business managerial positions. They also help in building other skills in leadership, teamwork, problem solving, report writing and other important skills in the top positions. The course also offers a great chance of promotion in any industry thus making it more appealing to me. It has become a common requirement in the top most positions across the United States.
The business degree course has good returns in the employment sector. For example, according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics, there is an average starting salary of $47, 782 for those entering the employment market from the year 2007. The career prospect of business degree holders is bright as American statistics from BLS shows that business graduates hold managerial or/ and supervisor positions in most industry. In the 2008 statistics for example, 7 out of 25 highest paying careers required one to have a master’s degree in business administration or a business related degree. An estimate of the course expenses, for an undergraduate student who will be living within the institution and obtains a federal grant of $ 10, 550, the estimated cost for the following: tuition fee, room and board, books and supplies and other expenses in Arizona State University is $25,548. Judging from the above advantages and cost of attendance based on the Arizona States University, the course are affordable and provides other unique advantages in the progress of one’s career.
Part two
After completing my business degree, I would wish to be a business consultant, otherwise called management analyst. A business consultant helps his/ her client improve business performance, efficiency and profits. In so doing, they identify the business problems and there after analyze data so that they can come up with the best recommendation for the business solution. They also serve as mediators who resolve conflicts between managers. Generally, their work involves consultation during projects where they collaborate in groups and discuss ideas. These include brainstorming, independent researches analysis and team analysis. They later provide the way forward as discussed and decided by the group. The job is appealing to me for the opportunities it offers and it has a high pace and frequent changing tasks. Though the entry face is less interesting, an upward development in career results to better challenging tasks with good returns.
