Describe two initiatives established by the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 that have enhanced the nation’s demand for ethanol? The Act Amendments established a tight pollution rule for the motor vehicles thus safe emissions. The act also offered a detailed plan to cut on the toxic air pollution.
What is winter oxygenated fuel and what is the benefit to the environment? Winter oxygenated fuel is fuel that contains the oxygen additives such as the alcohol and ether. These additives enhance combustion thus reducing emission.
Describe three federal laws or policies that encourage the production of ethanol to be used as fuel? The first law demands that the newly acquired vehicle must be of the alternative energy fuel. The second law dictates that the state government must acquire the alternative fuel vehicles and the third one requires that the private and the local government should also acquire the alternative fuel vehicles.
Describe the renewable fuels standard established by the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007? This Act seeks to amend the 2005 Act. It tries to reduce the green house emission and reduce the oil energy dependence.
What federal tax policy encourages wind production? Mention two policies/laws. The Wind Energy Policy encourages wind production. The policies are the Energy conservation policy of the 1975 and the Public Utility Regulatory policy of 1978.
What are the development milestones of a wind project? The wind project is directed towards the research and development and, commercial and domestic generators.
Describe at least three federal laws that regulate or impact the siting of wind turbines? The first law requires that the machines used must be of a considerable size. For example, in California the turbine should not be more than 600 feet high. The other law demands that the objects should not obstruct the air navigation (Watson 143).
Describe the “local laws” (county or townships ordinances) that regulate the construction of wind farms? These laws check on the land use by the vendors. They do not permit the large machines that might obstruct the air ways. These also ensure that the vendors do not interfere with the wildlife activities.
Describe the types of state laws that regulate the development and siting of a wind farm? In every state there is a Zoning authority and the public utility commissions. The regulations vary from one state to another. Most of these laws have guidelines on the Wildlife. No vendor should interfere with the wildlife habitat. In Arizona for example, a three year survey should be conducted prior to the establishment of the wind farm.
Do you agree with state laws designed to protect landowner’s vis-à-vis wind farm developers. Explain your position. I do agree with the state laws. If the vendors are left to work under very lenient regulations there might be very land waste and destruction. The wildlife would also lack homes.
