Introduction
United States of America is one of the most diverse countries in the world because of the big amount of various racial and cultural groups, genders, ages and sexual orientations. Someone may say that it is a good thing for people from different cultures and different social classes to blend with each other and being positioned as equal people with all the outcomes of justice for everyone. But in our world, there is a system of classes that determine the future of the members of a certain class, their advantages and disadvantage, their rights and duties.
But unfortunately, all these things are quite different for people of other cultures, races, wealth or social orientations. The idea of people of different cultures fighting for their rights is very controversial as it contradicts the key point of the American constitution which is justice and equality for everyone. In addition, it contradicts with the simple human moral values which should play an important role in the modern world if we do not want our world to get lost in the social chaos (Clerge, 2013).
African-American people, homosexuals and women do already have an experience of surviving in the American world of stereotypes and dividing the society into various inappropriate social classes. And it is a pity that some people still believe that some of the social classes are deprived of the mentioned justice and equal rights.
The Perspectives of People of Color
According to the latest researches, the problem of African-American people still exist. For example, some of the employers would prefer hiring the white person with much worse qualification than an African American with a better education and work experience in the field. In spite of the African-American president and some of the major positions in the government taken by people of color, there is even an inner division of classes within the class (Carter, 2003). Nowadays, it is not only about the race, but also about the social position. All this racial division into classes results in African American changing their original names and surname making them more “white” as according to the statistics, the people with African American initials get only half of the callbacks in comparison with people who have “white” name and surname.
A bright example is when one of the graduates of a Chicago University received a phone call from a big company which was very excited to get such a young and ambitious specialist. But once their professional relationships reached the stage of the personal conversation and the representatives of the company saw that the person they want to hire is African American, there were a little moment of confusion that led to chillier attitude.
It is illegal to discriminate any person according to his racial alignment, but some of the employers find their ways not to hire African American people without breaking any laws.
In addition to the ordinary job applicants who cannot even apply for a job because of their colour of skin, most of the businessmen of African American origins cannot get any loans for their business because of various prejudices and superstitions. We may observe the artificial declining of African American small and middle business. That is why some of the organizations and community that fight for the civil rights of African Americans appeal to the President Obama in order to change the social status of African American on the market of manpower and the current economical situation of the African American businessmen.
The other organizations criticize the President for spending enormous amount of money on the international affairs and ignoring such urgent problems as millions of African Americans trying to get something to eat for at least once per day, trying to save their home or just getting any job. The statistics expose us the true matter of unemployment among the African American as it is twice bigger than among the white people (Priestley, 2007). We believe that it proves the fact of various suppressions based on the racial classification. This discrepancy may be observed not only in the amount of unemployment, but in the numbers showing the salaries of full time workers. So, according to the latest research, an ordinary white full time worker earns thirty percent more than an ordinary African American worker.
Solution
This whole issue requires some harsh actions and responses. That is why the government should take into consideration all the facts of the racial discrimination. The actions we are talking about are providing the African American with bigger job market and better economic environment for all types of business.
The key to the success is in communicating with the government and showing the real situation. Many people from the civil right organizations believe that they can not criticize and appeal to African American President for such matters, but we personally believe that he is the only person with enough power and possibilities to change the situation in a better way.
Of course, everything cannot be left for one person, so people should peacefully march for expanding the job market and changing the white people attitude and approach to cooperating with African Americans. Without any movements, the society will proceed with not paying any attention to such social issue.
