The Empire State Building is one of the memorable architectural buildings that I have visited. It is skyscraper and is located in New York City. The building got its name from the nickname that was given to New York. The city was fondly referred to as the Empire State. There was a time when the Empire State Building was the tallest building in the whole world. It held this position for almost 40 years. The building held onto this title from 1931 up to 1970.
My visit to the Empire State Building was exciting because I got a close analysis of the architectural design used to make the building. The building has adopted an art deco design that was used on buildings that were constructed before the World War II (CB 1). The ceilings of the lobby have fluorescent lighting and tiles. The original work had shiny mural of art deco that was inspired by the Machine Age and the sky. The murals got destroyed, and were replaced with aluminum murals.
The Empire State Building has undergone many changes so as to make it suitable for current use. There have been numerous renovations that have been made to the building so as to make it eco-friendly and energy efficient. These renovations have used modern materials to improve the building. However, the inclusion of modern materials has not interfered with the beauty of its original state. The building remains attractive and memorable to all the people that visit and view it. The Empire State Building is antagonistic towards the other buildings surrounding it due to its height. It commands attention because of its height and design.
