Question 1:
Improving the patient experience is a two way journey that requires accomplishment from both the patients and the 14 member staff. First, it is important that there is good communication between patients and staff members. Such will improve conditions within the healthcare environment. For example, patients will be able to talk about the issues that they face such as bad hygiene or noisy environment.
Motivation and accountability require the use of physiological, safety, belonging, esteem and self-actualization concepts to show the staff members the importance of their roles. The use of bonuses, performance appraisals, and improved wages will see the workers motivated since they will be able to satisfy their needs (Health Care’s Service Fanatics, 2013).
Accountability on the other hand can be achieved through supervision and a well-organized chain of command. To ensure accountability in a diverse workplace, it is the duty of the managers to act in the following manner; Managers should be answerable for all the goals or assignments that have been achieved under their reign. The managers should at any point never allow poor or deteriorated performance among the employees. Therefore, in case such kind of performance is observed, it is their duty as management to take action when it occurs. However, this should not be the only tool to be used for accountability because focusing on this tool only for punishing the employees will permeate the work environment. This will make the employees fear to try new strategies in achieving a certain objective because of the fear of failing.
Managers can foster positive results using this tool. For instance, they should follow good performance management principles. They can use award programs to encourage their employees to perform better. Performance appraisal programs also come in handy in this case. Through this program, they will be able to recognize employees working hard in the organization. The management will therefore be in good position in awarding such employees.
Managers should involve their workers in coming up with clear goals that can be attainable. After setting the goals, it is the duty of the management to give the workers the authority in executing these goals. In case employees require some help, the management should be in a position to coach them and support them at all cost. They should also provide the necessary training as well as resources that the workers require. Training these employees will foster good performance among the workers hence a growth in the company’s output.
