Blackboard Analytics system is an Enterprise Resource Planning software company that develops educational software . The system is used in providing and managing education and communication software needs to organizations. It is also used by institutions in the delivery of assignments and course management. There are many benefits that the institution has accrued since the incorporation of this system to manage the course and school assignments. Some of the Blackboard system that is a module of Enterprise Resource Planning is that it integrates all learning and course management processes together in one single system.
The integration of all processes in a single system is critical in the institution administration as the students have a central location where they can find all the data they necessitate about their courses and units to be tackled over time. This saves time and resources that may be used in creating systems that support all courses . Another benefit that the institution has accrued, as a result, of using this system is the centralization of data in a defined location. This reduces the costs and data duplication in many other parallel systems that would contain similar information. In this case, the system incorporates all information about a student, the units they are taking, as well as all information they require when assessing their courses. An extra advantage is that the system is unproblematic to use and makes reporting and analysis much easier. Students are able to obtain real time progress on their grades.
However, the system has its own drawbacks. The system is expensive to implement . It requires people who are well trained to install and maintain as it requires regular updates. The updating is essential in ensuring that the system is not obsolete. Moreover, since the population of the institution is high, the system incurs high maintenance costs to ensure there is easy access, and there are no overlapping processes. This is a major drawback. Lack of flexibility is another drawback of the blackboard system .
