Who I Am
God created me to become a unique person. When I was getting older, I have learned how to use various ways to travel around the world. Unlike the greatest part of people, I have my own way. God gave me a precious gift at birth. These are three words that my whole life contains: uniqueness, freedom and respect. This is a gift that provides me with a great opportunity to become who I am.
In 1990, a unique baby was born in Taiwan. I was the unique baby. Why I said I was a unique baby? That is because my parents believe that I am so special. When I was born, I was not like any other baby. Usually babies are crying all the time and make their parents wake up at night, but it is not about me. My mother said she has never seen a baby like me before. She gave me milk every 4 hours and I was drinking the whole bottle. She didn’t worry about my voice when I was crying, because I was not crying too often. My mother had another problem with me to worry about. When I was a baby I had some problems with my ears. My mother tried to make some noise to make sure that I can hear her. Moreover, I pronounced my first word when I was 5 years old. My mom was thinking I am a dumb person. When I was at the school age, my mother was worrying about a new problem-- studying. She asked me what I have learned today and I couldn’t answer. It turned out into a big problem. My mother brought me to hospital, but the doctor said my brain is fine. One day, my aunt saw I was watching TV, but my posture was a little bit strange. They brought me to the ophthalmologist. The doctor said I have a very severe myopia. That was the reason why I couldn’t learn anything from school. I just could not see it. Since that time, I spend my life in glasses. Those problems gave a lot of worries to my parents. Perhaps, this way God wanted to slow me down and show that slow and steady wins the race.
Freedom is my motto, because I there were several people who influenced my life and made me appreciate freedom. First, it is my father. He is a totally free man, because he has no worries. I have never seen my father worries about any problem. He is a lucky guy, who married my mom, because my mom manages all domestic troubles. My father only needs to worry about where he wants to travel, and what he wants to eat. He doesn’t need to worry about our education or pocket money. Even now, he may not know where I am and he is not aware of the fact that I am studying in the United States of America. If you ask me who I would like to be, I would say that I would like to be like my father. Another person, who taught me how to become free, is my high school English teacher. I can’t forget what she said to us on the first day at school. She said “if you are not ready to learn, then you should go home and come back when you are ready.” This is the first time I hear a teacher saying such things. I was so shocked and happy at the same time. I don’t need to go to school every day and I can do what I want to do, but now I know what the teacher meant. Everyone could have a period when things are not going well, so it is necessary to have a break sometimes. When you get ready, you may perform in your full energy and power. The teacher made me realize that true freedom is when you don’t have any binding that you know what you want to do.
I believe that the word respect is ingrained in my mind since I was a baby. My parents have always been teaching me to respect other people. I have learned a lot about respect since that time. When I was a teenager, I thought that I did not need any pieces of advice from anyone including my parents. I was trying to prove that I could be successful and happy without any lectures from my parents, teachers, etc. I thought that I am absolutely free and I could do whatever I want to do. However, soon I realized that my life is impossible without my family and people who are close to me. I understood that the attention is not always focused on me and that I should not only accept any assistance and advice, but share it with people who are important to me. I understood that it is impossible to be on good terms with people if you only take but give nothing to them. I realized that my parents always want the best for me and I started fully appreciate their advice and respect them even more than ever. Today I know that respect is not just the acceptance of any help or advice, but it is the ability to show the person how much you appreciate their care and efforts they spend to make your life happier.
I should say that I am a lucky person and I live a happy life. The God’s gift is a treasure that I could enjoy every day of my life. Despite the fact that in some episodes from my life I did not realize the value of that gift, today I thank my lucky stars for the things I know and understand now. Moreover, I am very happy because I have the most caring and kind people who surround me and I was lucky to meet great people who taught me things that are important in a life of every person.
Uniqueness, freedom and respect became the part of me. Though, my parents thought that I am a unique person I have never thought that I am better that other people. However, my uniqueness is realized in another way. I know that I can become who I want be and I know that I can implement all my ideas and make all my dreams come true. This is what my uniqueness is. Moreover, I know that my parent would always love and support me and I would treat them in the same way. I have learned that freedom is something individual and every person could become free. I have learned how to be free and how to appreciate this freedom. When I understood that it is important to respect other people my life became much easier. I now have many friends and I know how to be a good friend for others. I am happy as I now understood how to use the gift that God provided me with. I know how to be happy and free, I have learned how to make people around me happier too. Uniqueness, freedom and respect are the key factors to understanding the basic principles of life and these concepts could rather improve the perception of your personality. I am a lucky person that I was taught all these things at the very early age and now I not only understand and implement them but I am striving for the improvement of my individuality and becoming a better version of myself with every day.
