Led Case
The plagiarism case of Led Zeppelin is significant because of the band’s iconic character. As for the side of the Spirit, the band who accuses Led Zeppelin of an alleged plagiarism, it is fair to raise such legal concern due to various reasons. First, the opening of Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin is closely similar to the Spirit’s Taurus (Rubin and Lewis, n.p.). The latter deals with the situation as if something was stolen from them, in which case, the construction of Stairway’s opening part. On the other hand, Led Zeppelin’s attorney claimed that such similarity was unintentional because both songs use the same musical devices, which was, according to the attorney, was common. It is evident that both parties present their points regarding to the alleged plagiarism. In order to resolve the issue, I believe it will be better if both parties come up with a win-win solution, such as giving constructive criticism to each other and let the people appreciate both music. Or simply, give an inspiring credit to the Spirit’s Taurus. However, it may have been too late for such debate as it has been decades when these songs were released into the market.
Pair of Music Comparison
The comparison between Oh, Pretty Woman and Canon presents two distinct types of music. I may choose the first song as it is aims to provide an energetic mood. On the other hand, I may choose the Canon depending on the time of the day. For example, when I am studying or if I am on a relaxing mood. Each of these music has its own intent, which is evident on the way they were composed. Although they have distinct methods in terms of presenting their genre, both songs speak to me directly in two different ways.
