My name is Majed Alshammari from Saudi Arabia. I have been serious with my work since I started schooling back in my home country. I have been particularly very focused and hardworking in all times and that explains the one main reason as to why I study in America. I have had dreams of becoming an engineer from tender ages. It is my endeavor to seek to help the world in my engineering career. Since I was young, I was fascinated by the great structures I would see in pictures and in the cities. I never knew who constructed them. One day, my parent informed me that the buildings are constructed through collaboration between architects and construction engineers. Since then, I knew engineering is good thing. I did not know that there were many other fields of engineering that one can choose from.
When attended my early childhood education, the teacher would oftenly ask us what we wanted to become in future. I would not hesitate to assert that I would be an engineer. I remember one time when the teacher wanted specific answers on what type of engineers I wanted to be. By then, I was lost and just said any engineer. My interest in electronics arose much later as I learned sophisticated things. The computer fascinated me very much. I wanted to know how they operated with particular emphasis on the powering system. After clearing my high school, I had to make a sole decision what type of engineer I wanted to be. There were many options.
I settled on the electrical engineering. This is how I found myself in the Tennessee State University. My major is electrical engineering. However, since I belief it is easier to transfer knowledge from electrical engineering to mechanical and electronic engineering, I am seeking to transfer to Lawrence Technological University to major in mechanical and manufacturing engineering. My main education goals on mechanical and manufacturing engineering include the following.
I want to gain skills and knowledge to help establish manufacturing industries in my home country. I believe that it is possible to increase the productivity of my country through diversification of the manufacturing industries. It is evident that in the current state of affair in Saudi Arabia, there are many opportunities in the field of Mechanical and manufacturing engineering that I can fill after graduation. As the country’s economy grows, the need for professional engineers shall increase.
In addition, I would be glad to help in establishing colleges with strong engineering backing like the one sin USA. It is apparent that the reason why I came to USA is because of the advanced education levels. Going back home, I would seek to partner with the existing universities and colleges as I work to make the necessary innovations in Saudi Arabia. That is the best way to give to a community that supported me in my early education. I shall strive to make life better by ensuring that there are better colleges, universities, and even places for internships. There are minorities in Saudi Arabia who also requires a chance to study abroad. I acknowledge that it is impossible for one to work alone. For this reason, I would seek to unite al my friends who have studied abroad to help others to study so that we can built a strong Saudi Arabia engineering culture. I believe the Lawrence Technological University shall make my goals and dreams come true by offering me chance to study.
