1. What prompted the HR manager to make the statement?
The HR managers play the major role to plan, direct and coordinate all the activities inside an organization. They are responsible for the productivity of the company and they have to seek for solutions in such cases. The HR manager made the statement because the managers got to realize that the productivity of the company is suffering. The best idea to improve the productivity can be the job analysis and redesigning the job. This steps allows the managers to evaluate the employee’s performance and dedication toward the company. It allows them to put the right person at right place to bring positive changes.
2. If you were the HR manager, what arguments will you provide to convince the two supervisors of the desirability of job analysis and employee involvement teams?
The job analysis is the process that allows the HR managers to identify the job requirements and duties and the importance of the job. It enables the managers to gather necessary information that can be helpful for them to plan the future hiring strategy of the company and the type of training needed to get the best from the employees. It is also helpful to create motivational plan that can increase the involvement of the employees at work and the productivity of the company. It can create great sense of responsibility among the employees to work hard for the betterment of the company.
What is your evaluation of Lance's approach to the project?
The best approach taken by Lance was the decision of interviewing all the senior managers. He took the initiative of making the HR department more effective by utilizing the fit persons at the right place. The interviews helped Lance to get more detailed information’s of the employees thinking that was useful in the future. However, the initiative taken by Lance had more weakness compare to the strengths. The process of interviewing had space to upgrade in order to get better result. There also had chances of improving the job design and rearranging the employees in more innovative manner.
2. What would you do if you were in Lance's position right now?
As a HR specialist, I would prefer to take more detailed approach compare to Lance’s approach in order to succeed. I would prefer to conduct some surveys among all employees that will have huge variety of questions related to the company. It will be my duty to ensure that great number of staffs interacted in the survey in order to succeed. I will provide the respondents enough space to give the true opinion that can be helpful. I will analyze all the data collected from the interview to make decisions for the future of the company. It can be more helpful to identify the real picture of the company and solve the problem.
