Aristotle Theory Explanation: One of the greatest thinker in the western science and philosophy history is Aristotle. Aristotle views have contributed in many subjects such as agriculture, medicine, dance, and many more. The most influential work of Aristotle is the Nicomachean Ethics. In this work he presented the theory of happiness. Also, this theory still has a relevance with today’s world even after 2300 years.
Creation of Aristotle Theory for Happiness: The theory of Happiness made by Aristotle was on the concept of 2 questions i.e. what is the specific reason behind human existence? And what should be our efforts to achieve goal and make the same direction for all of our activities? According to the view of Aristotle, he believes that every human is looking forward for pleasure, wealth, honor and money. Whereas, opinion based on Aristotle believes is that happiness are the key to achieve our end goals and it is the ultimate key source to provide pleasure.
Challenge or Criticism against Aristotle Theory: Critics say that Aristotle happiness theory is diverting towards futuristic approach of happiness for longer period. However, critics say that in present time people go for short term pleasure and happiness rather than thinking beyond about future such as watching movie without thinking the loss of time and what one can achieve during that time which one has wasted.
Present Day Example: Society these days are moving towards Drugs. Drugs as Cocaine might create a pleasure for your brain but remember this pleasure of happiness will be for short term period and bring illnesses for the one engage in drug activities.
Applying Theory on Our own Pursuit of Happiness: In the present day, students and their behavior towards studies. A child would prefer watching TV than learning new things about his subjects or term paper. Here the application of happiness theory is that once you look for a small happiness that comes easily. However, you aren’t realizing that difficulty related to studying might create hurdles but, it won’t be forever in fact it would be for shorter period. As, it will build your moral character and make you stand in the job market (Jian-xin, 2006).
