Introduction
This work looks at the situation between the school administrations and the students in order to identify the best ways to respond to various indiscipline cases in school environment. For instance, some of the behaviours seem so dangerous that the school administration has to seek other support to address. Joseph is a grade two pupil at Samuels Elementary School, and has been overheard by the fellow students saying that he would bring a gun to school. The main concern of this work is to determine whether the school authority is justified for any decision to suspend or expel Joseph from school (Adams, 2011). This analysis will give an in-depth examination of Joseph’s mental condition to figure out whether his problem is mental or intentional. For instance, many cases related to learners threatening to outlay such behaviours are common in many learning centres. Therefore, it is imperative to understand what instigates such thoughts in a learning environment. The main intention of this work is to identify the problem the learner has to help make a recommendation on the best action to take to help solve the matter.
Summary
The need to understand human behaviour and development remains a concern in many learning institutions. Even though various studies have given findings on various factors that influence human behaviour, it remains a complex area in most of the social settings, since it becomes difficult to predict how someone would react in a particular situation. Some scholars think of collaborative action as one of the approaches to use in tackling unusual behaviour in an individual (Frank, 2008). Collaborative action here means that all the stakeholders get involved to help respond to the unpleasant behaviour. For example, Joseph’s case needs both the parents and the teachers to work together harmoniously to determine what must be happening with him.
In this datum, experts give their viewpoints on Joseph’s case and how the situation should be handled. The parent, the school management unit, the school psychology department and the principle worked collaboratively to get a unanimous way to help understand the reason behind Joseph’s behaviour. Various tools were relevant in the analysis, which included the school register and disciplinary records to give the history of joseph’s performance as the behaviour is concerned. The finding also outlined how the boy has been doing in the overall academic progress to see if there is any problem in that area (Turner, 2004). The guardian also gave the home understanding of Joseph as far as behaviour is concerned. There were a number of reasons that were pursued to figure out what the possible reasons that lead to Joseph behaving awkwardly. Among the reasons was lack of good role model, poor upbringing where it was evident that the boy being up in a violent environment would make him develop a violent mind. In addition, the possible exposure of the mother to the extreme use of some drugs must have interfered with the child’s brain even before birth.
In the cause of action, the stakeholders held all the matters at a balance in order to decide the best way to deal with Joseph’s behaviour. The guardian, the school disciplinary team, the psychology unit and the principal as the head of the institution all sat together to help each other arrive at a sustaining solution to the matter. They had a long deliberation about the matter. In trying to dig in to this, the team had to be moderate in looking into this matter in order not to appear so harsh to the boy. For instance, they must ensure that every area that gives the boy emotional imbalance is addresses so that the boy grows up a modest person. In other words, joseph is still a young boy that cannot withstand some atrocities. Therefore, the team must consider the areas that lead to Joseph sounding harsh and use the same idea in helping more of the same situations in the near future.
In-depth analysis
Knowledge of problem solving techniques is so important in in responding to a particular situation similar to the one Joseph demonstrates. However, much of these ideas are insufficient, since they require deeper understanding than whatever does exist in the texts that people read. In fact, it would be imperative for people to be more considerate in using the existing texts as a guide to make a judgement in certain contentious issues (Zey, 2008). Furthermore, human behaviour, emotional growth and personality construction requires consultation within the various stakeholders to determine the approach that would best suit the action plan. Some of the things that influence human behaviour and actions are not within the domain of scientific empirical justification.
The school took it as a threat that Joseph’s statement would lead to a disaster in the school. In retrospect, Joseph claimed that he felt this as the best way to make him see his mum Meaning, her mum also stays in jail. In a well-coordinated approach, the school appeared so harsh by suspending him away for five days pending investigation. Using the collaborative concept, the boy ought to get the right guidance by getting someone to console him and remind him that getting to jail would not be the best way to ease the pain of missing his mother. Collaboration is the aspect of consolidating ideas in a particular weighty matter to help device a proper way of arresting the situation. In this, precept, the school team would divide efforts as the investigation takes toll to give the boy a shoulder to lean on, since sending him away would worsen the matter further. For example he would decide to kill himself or even go ahead to kill someone on the streets. The school and the team should have investigated if the boy has access to a gun. Then goes ahead to identify ways of confiscating the illegal possession of the weapon if possible, while helping the boy to manage his condition.
In addition, School administrators must know the possible reasons that threaten the positive wellbeing of the young learners in their academic growth (Wood, 2005). They should be able to help their learners appropriately without putting them at more risks of these consequences. The c concept of environmental and constituency would help the disciplinary team to be effective in making the decisions that help the situation rather than worsening it. Interdisciplinary theory suggests that a robust and meticulous perspective must construe in order to generate the best way of handling a complex matter. Furthermore, Complex systems theory makes the administrator more sensitive in responding to an intricate case that needs multifaceted approach. Using the knowledge of the two models, the school would be more sensitive in handling the similar issues in many students without exposing them to more invigorated serious matters than what they are.
Besides, every individual have a specific scope of looking at an issue depending on the worldview of the same person. One of the factors that form an individual’s worldview is the kind of training a person has. For instance, a psychologist would look at the matter within the psychological realm, while a normal the principal would have the standpoint of administration. Therefore, it is imperative to put both the stakeholders together in resonate analysis of the situation before the final decision is made. During that process, every idea must get the due weight so that all the components of looking at this matter take the actual phase. This confirms that collaborative approach in an issue is of much relevance and value, since on line of thinking would be dangerous.
In all these understanding, it is evident that there are particular important things that must be addressed in the life of this young growing vibrant man. The course action should consider both long-term and short-term effects. These effects are contingent to each other and must take meticulous check. For instance, to expel the boy from school is a short-term effect but would escalate to something big, making it hard for him to manage himself in adulthood. Joseph must acquire positive skills to understand that every problem seeks peace and sobriety rather than cruelty and violence. Secondly, the boy is in a turmoil and is unable to make the right choice. He feels lonely and overwhelmed with his condition now. It would be better for the teachers as the moral builders to assume the position of parents and stay with the boy, so that he feels the warmth of a parent. Therefore, suspending the boy from his studies would be the worst thing to do since it would catalyse the problem rather than solving it.
It would be better for the teachers as the moral agents in the school environment to understand the situation that their learner has found himself. The administration should avoid being harsh with him but rather should feel with him in the same situation (empathy) (Klein, 2010). In fact, Joseph does not deserve wrath but rather deserves somebody to care and embrace him in what he is going through. In other words, Joseph is a young boy and whatever he sees in life is too much for him to bear. Therefore, the administration should set a centre that helps to care for the children who are emotionally disturbed, so that they can find a shoulder to lean on during their tough moments.
In addition, the stakeholders in collaboration should adopt friendlier means of addressing issues rather than harsh punitive actions. In some instances, a stern action can lead the person to more chaos. For this reason, they ought to look into the different areas that Joseph has experienced challenges then help him get through. This needs support in terms of care and accommodation. It is worth recommending that the team would decide to provide more enabling environment for the learner to withstand the situation. It is possible that the boy has gone through a lot in his predicament, and that is why he feels that he better kills so that he gets to the jail to stay with his mum. It is worth understanding that when an individual is overwhelmed with a condition then they are bound to making unordered decisions. Therefore, any judgement made to respond to Joseph’s case must be very moderate and take into cognizance all these factors.
Conclusion
The concern of this work delved to determine whether the school authority is justified for any decision to suspend or expel Joseph from school. Additional analysis has given an in-depth examination of Joseph’s mental condition to figure out whether his problem is mental and emotional not intentional. For instance, many cases related to learners threatening to outlay such behaviours are common in many learning centres. Therefore, it is imperative to understand what instigates such thoughts in a learning environment. The course action should consider both long-term and short-term effects. These effects are dependent to each other and seek meticulous check for appropriate action. For instance, to expel the boy from school is a short-term effect but would escalate to something big, making it hard for him to manage himself in adulthood. Joseph must acquire positive skills to understand that every problem should be handled with peace and sobriety rather than cruelty and violence. Secondly, the boy is in a turmoil and is unable to make the right choice. He feels lonely and overwhelmed with his condition now. It would be better for the teachers and other stakeholders to assume the position of parents and stay with the boy, so that he feels the warmth of a parent. Therefore, suspending the boy from his studies would be the worst thing to do since it would catalyse the problem rather than solving it.
