Objective
Mental illnesses are the leading origin of morbidity globally and are prevalent in the nations which are industrialized. These illnesses are usually treated by the mental health practitioners. However, the practitioner ability in the detection, diagnosing and treating mental disorder patient is often deliberated as unsatisfactory ("4 Steps to Complete Mental Health Recovery"). This article will examine the trend of mental health practitioner’s viewpoint towards the recovery of mental illnesses. My viewpoint about mental health illnesses among many other relevant topics of discussion. Many doctors usually want the best for their patients, however, it has been noted that mental disorder patients, if treated forcefully, the results may be counter-therapeutic and traumatic ("Developing Systems and Services That Support People in Wellness and Recovery"). Hence for a successful recovery treatment procedure then, this fact should be taken into account. Since when a patient undergoes forceful treatment, it plays as a catalyst to the perception of discrimination and stigma which slows down recovery.
What I will remember is that mental patients are at a higher risk of suicide than the other part of the population, with the primary reason being the subjection to detention. In addition, being kept in the treatment facilities againist their wishes leads to increased levels of anxiety and fear. Other frequent obstacles to recovery to those affected include negative side effects of the drugs and ineffectual medication (Lukoff 635-641).
My notions about mental illness have changed in that I now understand that the individuals with mental disorders are among the most disadvantaged in a given population. Discrimination and stigma only pose a threat to the recovery of the patients. Furthermore mental illness attack on individuals is not voluntary, and everybody is at risk ("4 Steps to Complete Mental Health Recovery"). It is therefore pertinent that everybody be responsible for their mental health.
Interpretive
I agree with the four steps to complete mental health recovery. Through comprehending that one is going through adversity is a human experience, then the patients will be more open to proposed treatment procedures ("Mary Ellen Copeland Part 1 of 2"). Finding resolutions to the conditions that brought one to distress is also a key step to recovery since one will come up with the ways to avoid it and come up with a mentally healthy lifestyle. Finding what activities rejuvenates and gives a patient power, acts as a crucial step to mental recovery in that he will be involved in physically healthy activities which ultimately speeds mental recovery. Finally, by talking to the individuals who have once been affected motivates a patient and gives him or her the drive to keep fighting the mental disorder ("RECOVERY FROM MENTAL DISORDERS, A LECTURE BY PATRICIA DEEGAN"). I believe that more attention should be paid to holistic mental treatment majorly because individuals with mental disorders are the most disadvantaged in the society and need special treatment. If not taken care of well these illnesses can be fatal.
Decisional
I will incorporate core gift concepts to professional or personal work because it is of significance that we contribute to the community welfare than just thinking of oneself, resulting in a life of harmony with others. The steps toward treatment methods and awareness may include: firstly psychological therapy where mental illnesses professional detect the detectable concerns and symptoms and discuss the ways to solve them. Secondly, medication of the people who have been diagnosed with mental illnesses to reduce or eliminate the symptoms. Finally, setting up community programs where the people with a psychiatric disability or recurrent symptom will be placed.
