In essence, to ensure that the work completed will meet the project scope requirements, it is important to have an effective plan. Planning helps in avoiding mistakes. Primarily, employees and all participants of the project should be briefed about the expectations to avoid confusion (Kerzner, 2013). Concerning the dilemma of how much truth should be made known to the bosses, for example, it is not appropriate to brush off the problem to avoid disappointing the owner of the project. In fact, the issues will not change by avoiding it.The customers and other stakeholders should be made aware of the delays. Consequently, the team will learn the importance of being honest and they will demonstrate ethical behavior throughout the project.
When asked to change the scope of a project, it is important to know the requirements of all stakeholders, especially the areas that need to be changed. Setting up interviews and workshops with the stakeholders is an approach that can help change the project scope according to their necessities. Notably, variations in the project scope can have an adverse effect on the project.
In this regard, it will be important to assess the merits and demerits to make sure right decisions are made. Primarily, I will ensure that care is taken when integrating these changes into the project. If the changes have an adverse effect, it is essential to avoid all the changes and offer an alternative (Kerzner, 2013). Notably, as the project manager, I am responsible for the outcome of this undertaking. Additionally, the outcome will determine whether the customers will assign other projects. Hence, I will ensure that each group demands are met in an efficient manner to avoid delays.
