Challenges related to Women’s typical domestic responsibilities and leadership opportunities
Since time in memorial women face a lot of challenges in their domestic responsibilities and leadership opportunities from their counterparts who are men. Men see women as tools that are easily to manipulate and most of their work should be at the home of nurturing their young ones and taking care of their husbands. It is worth noting that women receive a lot of discrimination when it comes to leadership opportunities. There is a belief that women cannot work well as men can do. Such a belief makes it difficult for women to participate in various leadership roles.
Women fail to participate in leadership roles because they are deemed weak to meet the demands of such roles. It is believed that women have a low focus on leadership roles instead they spend most of their time thinking about their homes. Such a reasoning makes women have a low concentration on their work thus making them unsuitable to assume leadership roles. Besides, leadership requires much dedication and commitment which seem absent on the side of the women due to their struggle to develop a balance between their work and their homes. However, these are the reasons that make men take advantage of women in assuming these roles.
Making you Partner a real partner
In my opinion, I support Sandberg’s advice on the issue of partnership. It is worth to note that both husband and his wife need to develop an attitude of giving support to each other and working in partnership in executing all the work about their progress. Unity leads to the establishment of plans put forward by any individual or group individuals. It is important for one to seek advice from the other and develop a heart of listening to each other partner’s suggestions regarding the progress of the family. Such a move helps in the development of an outstanding relation between the two partners that guide them in developing a lasting relationship (Philips n.p).
Besides, I feel that partners need to develop a positive attitude towards each other in pursuing anything they feel important for their relationship. One partner should not feel more superior to the other in executing his or her duty. In fact, it is vital for each of the partners to develop a sense of belonging to each other. Proper communication between the partners and accepting that making mistakes is not a crime helps the partners to have a positive attitude towards one another in everything they do.
Furthermore, is support Sandberg’s idea that understanding each one's strengths and weaknesses are key for partnership. Realizing the strengths of each partner helps couples to perform their work with ease. The underlying factor is that the one with strength in a given area participates more in that area, he or she also helps the other in performing the same task as a way of improving one another to form a formidable team can handle any work. On the other hand, partners need to improve each other on their weak areas to foster strength in all aspects of life. It makes the partnership very strong to handle any matter of life that seems challenging. Proper planning is crucial in ensuring the bond lasts forever.
Having it all and doing it all
In the society we are leaving in, it is a challenge to have it all and do it all. It is worth noting that the society is ever changing and so is the way of doing things. It is possible when one has it all to do it all, but the life environment keeps on changing making it hard to have it all. For instance, the technology is changing requiring leaders to have a basis of the new technology. Developing an understanding of everything touching technology is a challenge to the leaders. Thus, it becomes hard for them to have it all and to do it all. Besides, the struggle to ensure one matches with this phrase develops a challenge of being perfect in one area. It makes one to struggle to have everything hence ends up losing everything.
However, the need to have it all and do it all provides one with an opportunity to foster improvement and development of oneself to ensuring future success. It impels one to learn the changes taking place in the world and taking a positive move to adopt such changes to excel as per the phrase. It makes one take advantage of any challenge that comes in his or her way as part on perfecting what he or she does.
The information provided in these chapters is quite applicable in my family experience and anticipated goals as a parent and a leader as well. I find the information worth to assist one to take the challenge and improve the way of living. The information offers me with knowledge and skills that are important in developing a strong family by enhancing partnership. It impels me to develop various virtues such respect, love for one another, commitment and cooperation with others as a way of enhancing success both in family matters and in leadership matters. In fact, the information has provided me with the basis for developing a strong family and becoming a successful leader.
