What an entrepreneurial organization is
For me, an entrepreneurial organization is an organization that mainly focuses on innovation to develop economic as well as social value. The entrepreneurial organization leads the people rather than managing them. The management works as a team of leaders, and the leaders are scattered throughout the organization. The senior leadership teams are responsible for setting organizational mission, vision, and strategy (Metaprofiting 1).
In general, the organization having large operations and senior management is known as an entrepreneurial organization. Such organization remains involved in the process of continuous improvements. For the companies in the competitive world today, it becomes very important to remain entrepreneurial organization to achieve competitive advantage. The entrepreneurial organization believes in promoting the empowerment of the workers and employees to encourage them to be innovative. The leaders are expected to communicate efficiently and effectively within the entrepreneurial organization, mainly to communicate the vision on a regular basis. Therefore, the vision must be concrete and clear in terms of expected values and behaviors.
Why the business is entrepreneurial
Zara is one of those huge companies in the world that fits the entrepreneurial organization’s definition. As it is defined above that innovation is the main aspects of the entrepreneurial organization that includes development and design of new products, new production methods, leadership, new organization forms and new markets. Zara fits in all these aspects of innovation. The company becomes wealthy, huge and large through its continuous involvement in the new innovations (Melodyhan).
As Zara is the fashion retailer, it only takes two weeks to change its products and come up with new products. The new products are made available to the customers around the world in different markets. The production is huge as compared to any other company within the same industry. It shows that how the company is innovative. Such a fast fashion retailing has become possible with leadership, flexibility, and efficiency. No company can produce new products within such short time. The stocking process of Zara is also very efficient as within two weeks it restocks all the locations around the world. Zara produces more than 12,000 products annually that are three times better than its competitors. The company because of the innovation and fast production methods successfully earns the increased revenue every year. The company is successful in satisfying its customers with making all the employees and departments working closer within the innovative supply chain process. It increased the efficiency of Zara (Melodyhan).
My entrepreneurial skills, attributes, and behaviors
Skills of situation analysis
Skills of developing realistic and timely objectives
Skills of selecting appropriate behavioral ways
Skills of controlling own behavior
Skills of shaping the behavior of others
Skills of monitoring the behavior of own and others
I have entrepreneurial skills to serve the organization in more efficient way. For the entrepreneurial organization, innovation is most important, and my set of skills is completely aligned with innovation in terms of thinking and doing.
The first three skills are about thinking, and other three skills are about doing.
Skills of situation analysis:
I am able to analyze the complexities of the task and routine work and can understand that who can efficiently deal with these complexities. I can lead the work in a timely manner by doing the work to complete in the given time. I can deal with the situations by understanding all the requirements, risks and needs to deal with different situations. It is the major quality of entrepreneurial employee that is very important for the innovative organization.
Skills of developing realistic and timely objectives:
I have skills to set the realistic objectives for what to achieve either for short term or long term. To set objectives, I have excellent skills of communication and I can forecast of what objectives are needed to achieve with the communication and interaction.
Appropriate behavior:
I have excellent skills of behavior from verbal to body language. Being a student of media, I have a complete command to communicate with others in order to seek ideas from others as well as proposing own ideas to decide the course of actions. I have an ability to deal with others in terms of arguing about their ideas, support to their ideas, to deal with difficulty, giving explanations, etc. All these skills are very important for the teamwork in the large organization. With these skills, I can serve the team in Zara efficiently.
Along with these behaviors, I have personal skills of facial expression, eye contact, excellent appearance, movement of the body, etc. according to the professional requirement in the organization.
Control of behavior
It is very important to control the above three skills during actions. I have entrepreneurial skills to control my behavior, actions, and ideas. I possess the ability to be consistent with my behavior and plan of actions.
Shaping others behavior
It is one of the major qualities of entrepreneurial employees. It is simply known as leading others. I have an ability to encourage others and to lead them to bring new ideas and to make them supportive in difficult situations. Supporting and building the ideas of others is very important to empower and encourage others in the team to shape their behavior according to the need of the organization. These skills will help the organization to improve its teamwork; I want to join.
It is very important for the leader to agree to the ideas of others to encourage them and to motivate them to bring more new ideas to solve the issues and to develop new products. I can motivate others within my team to encourage them to bring new ideas.
Monitoring own and others behavior
Although, setting own and other behavior is important, however, it is also vital to monitor the behaviors. For this purpose, I consider meetings as the best way to observe the behavior of others. Both verbal and no verbal actions of others can easily be observed in the meetings. I have excellent skills of observing others in the interactions.
The benefits of entrepreneurial employees
The entrepreneurial employees are very beneficial for the organizations. Many companies feel the risk in promoting entrepreneurial employees as it is indirectly to promote them to start their own business. However, entrepreneurial employees are very important to make the organization efficient and successful. I can help Zara to achieve its vision and mission with the help of my entrepreneurial qualities and skills. I can share my skills as a traditional entrepreneur but stay happy within the company, working with a team to achieve goals. I am good for Zara because I like to work there; I like consistency and work within the teams. It is not possible for entrepreneurs to achieve their desires lonely being chaotic; therefore, the entrepreneurs can benefit from the entrepreneurial minds of the employees and workers. It is not difficult to find entrepreneurial employees in the workplace. There are lots of such employees that like to do what they are told to do, follow the organizational rules and go back to home et end of the day, but the entrepreneurs are needed to find those employees that can do something different such as to come up with new and creative ideas. To test entrepreneurial employees, they can be encouraged to bring new ideas for the development of products, services and ways of the process in the organization and to promote them to encourage a team (Lesonsky; Nystrom 2).
The company can find entrepreneurial employees at any level from front line staff to the entry level employees by asking them to bring new ideas, innovative solutions and to accomplish goals. Having entrepreneurial skills and qualities, I can benefit Zara in many ways. Some of the major benefits include the following (Symonds):
I can deal with the risks having entrepreneurial qualities. It is very important for entrepreneurs to deal with uncertainty and risks to make progress. In the risky conditions and environment, I am able to make decisions.
I am a result oriented employee. I take the ownership of the tasks to get them done. The entrepreneurial employees make decisions with common sense and therefore, make others to complete the work with resolving problems and issues.
Having entrepreneurial skills, I have a high level of energy and enthusiasm. I am completely committed to achieve organizational goals, mission, vision and overall success.
The entrepreneurial employee is very beneficial for the organization as they always search for quick success and outcomes of the decisions and work rather than measuring success in years. The poor decisions are clear and quick with entrepreneurial employees. They are self motivated and set their work in their priorities with no or minimal guide.
With my entrepreneurial skills and behaviors, I can achieve potential growth from employee to supervisors to department manager in near future. I am always ready to accept the higher level of responsibilities.
I am a true player of teams and can encourage the team to be accountable and responsible to make all efforts to contribute to the success of the organization.
Having entrepreneurial abilities and skills, I can contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization.
Summary and recommendations
Based on my personal skills as well as the efficiency of Zara, it is summarized that Zara becomes the largest and successful company in the world through its entrepreneurial efficiency. Zara believes in innovation and produces new products with fast and efficient supply chain process. I, therefore, wanted to join Zara as my skills are very important to serve the company and to become representative in such entrepreneurial organization that encourages people to be innovative and empowered. I can play a successful role as a leader of the team in Zara as the company being entrepreneurial requires leaders that can effectively communicate with the people to make them understand the vision and mission of the company in a clear way.
At the end of the paper, I would like to recommend to the companies and organizations that they must not feel fear and worry in encouraging its people to be entrepreneurial. The entrepreneurial employees can benefit them to achieve their entrepreneurial mission and vision and to achieve the success as of Zara. By encouraging people to be entrepreneurial, the companies can begin new projects and divisions within the organization and can enjoy the progress and success faster than ever before. Therefore, they should encourage employees to be entrepreneurial.
