In my quest to conduct the required research, I had to look for articles and documents to support my findings. Searching for the articles proved to be easy since they were easily available in the university’s online website database. I used a simple search parameter to include the basic instructions; articles that deal with learning languages.
There were keywords I needed to use to get the right articles to use for this particular research. One combination of keywords included learning languages. Since I was researching on various aspects of language learning, I had to use the above two words. I also used the keyword journals. In many instances, there were books that also had content on learning the language but they did not offer the information I wanted so I had to use journals.
The use of these words yielded close to 200 journals so I had to narrow the search using dates. I looked for articles in early 2000, and recent years namely 2009 to present. The search narrowed the articles to around 30 and from there I went through them one by one. After review of each, I chose three articles from the 30 that I had narrowed. I used the articles since there was no need to add more keywords as most articles from the 30 I had identified did not have the relevant information I wanted so it was easy to sort them out.
The three articles are one, Foreign language annals by the American Council that explained the findings of Toni Theisen who had attended an international Association for Language Technology conference. The second article, English as Second Language: Tribulations of Self talked about the application of English language and the impact it has on oneself and others. The third article, Learning From The Lived Experiences Of New Language Arts Teachers Working In Diverse Urban Schools talks about the experiences of new teachers that were influenced by different events, people, challenges and factors.
