Question I
The focus on children and their general wellbeing has grown dramatically. This has developed as a result of studies carried out on different cultures. As displayed in the Montgomery, it is evident that children face a lot of ordeal situation in their development either as a form of punishment or cultural passage.
Question II
According to Montgomery, anthropologists could not support adoption of children as provided by the UN General Assembly.
This reason behind this is the fact that in case of adoption a child loses the linkage to his biological parents on such areas as support or even inheritance or any kind of assistance from his or her original parents.Based their definition fostering involves an alteration of identity.According to them, this is not necessary. Based on their understanding, while adoption takes place, often such children-parent linkage is usually not broken as such. Often in a different culture it is witnessed that the different arrangements are made for child adoption. A good example given is Morocco where children are adopted in the customary manner. This involves giving a child to another family s a gift. The next arrangement is secret adoption and lastly legal adoption (108).
Based on their assumption, it is evident that not all individuals can really assist a child on adoption. According to them, the best person to adopt a child is a post-reproductive aged female individual. This because she can sacrifice everything she has for her child. Comparing this to men, men are prone to remarriages (109). Based on different perspectives it is evident that children are not only adopted due to the lack of parents or irresponsibility of the biological parent but for goody purposes. For instance, some people adopt children so that they can offer what she or he was offered as a child. Others do it just for love or due to lack of children. Additionally other do it so that she or he can benefit from the child and lastly due to their capability to offer support for a child. Therefore, the laws put in place restrict such individuals (113).From the text, it is also evident that the parent may offer their children as security for a credit or a loan. This enables them to learn more on such areas as trade. The laws imposed on adoption can be adjusted by ensuring that anybody can adopt a child with a good aim.
