The American student government association is a professional association whose main members include college student governments and other student government associations across the continent of the United States. The association had its inception in 2001.the organization has a very comprehensive mission statement as well as its general vision for all student organizations in the United States.
The organization has a vision of creating an extensive and comprehensive network of students running across the country and surpassing all state boundaries. These extensive networks will enable rampant and large scale interactions of students throughout the country and will built the perfect environment for the students to brainstorm on contentious issues relating to their school life as well as key issues on both the national and global scope of view.it is a vision of this organization to make these networks as vast as possible in a ploy to bring to the table as much idealistic diversity as possible in relation to student interactions and their sharing of their ideas and experiences.
The organization also has a vision of transforming all member student organizations into vast hubs of committed officials who are up to date with the plight of the students they represent and are ready to take the necessary steps and approaches in service of these students. The organization envisions student organizations where commitment is both the norm and the order of the day. The organization also envisions a student management organization and a greater student body that is committed to constant improvement. Champions and advocates of stagnation will not be tolerated and must either be rehabilitated or relegated to the sideline for the greater good of the greater student body. The vision of the organization is that of student governments that are constantly aiming higher on the relentless pursuit of improvement. A good example is Ashley h west who is the student government association president in Bakersfield college and had the following to say about her dealings with ASGA “ASGA has done a great job in helping us set realistic goals for our student organization.as a result we have been able to implement online elections and even develop a student organization website.”
The organization has a vast network that serves its members in terms of information management and disambiguation. If a student has an issue that is deemed contentious and urgent the organization advocates that the student can raise the issue to the student organization consultation group partners in their campus and the student will receive the relevant and needed information with reference to the issue they had. The organization also guarantees its members at least one hour of personal telephoneconsultation. During this hour the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality are observed. This hour can be used to seek much needed information by the member or by the organization to pass useful information to its members. The organization guarantees high levels of specialization during these conversations and even goes as far as to guarantee special tailor made responses for each caller with reference to the issue they raised or the information the organization needs to deliver to the members.
The organization also has in place a special ask the experts email platform which deals with disambiguation of contentious issues as well as information dissemination. This platform works in terms of back and forth emails between the so called experts and members of the association.
