‘Anyway’ is a perfume brand developed by ‘Juliette Has a Gun’. The perfume is a designer perfume and sells at prices worthy of designer perfumes (TCPB 1). The downside of this perfume is that it has failed to master the rules of un-selling and seduction. The brand plays it safe and offers a relaxed and airy style of perfume. It seems that the perfume is trying very hard to impress while at the same time not wanting to offend the consumers. The problem with such a strategy is that it misses out on capturing a wide customer base. Consumers like products that appeals to them.
The perfume comes in a very simple bottle that does not follow the rules of un-selling and seduction. It is very easy for the brand to go unnoticed by the consumer because of its simple appearance. Seduction can be achieved by using a bottle that is curvy and appealing to the eye. Such a design on a bottle won’t skip the attention of the consumer. The fragrance of the perfume should also leave the consumer thinking about the perfume (Weber 1). It should linger in the consumer’s mind and make them want to purchase the product.
‘Anyway’ by ‘Juliette Has a Gun’ (TCPB 1)
The product does not master the rule of un-selling because it is unappealing to the eye. That means that the company will have to participate in active selling of the product so as to meet their sales target. It is important to master the rules of un-selling so that the products can sell themselves without a lot of effort from the seller.
I would make three recommendations that will enable ‘Anyway’ brand of perfume to succeed. Firstly, the company should change the design of the bottle and come up with a design that is seductive and appealing to the eye. Secondly, the fragrance of the perfume should be improved so that it can linger in the memory of a potential buyer. Thirdly, the perfume should have a color that appeals to the eye so that a potential consumer can be attracted to the product.
