Nature is a place where everything lives in harmony. There is bad and good everywhere in the world. Many poets were referring to the theme of harmony in their poetic works. Robert Frost is not an exception. The poem “Design” can be seen as a work which is dedicated to the topic of harmony of good and evil in the world and nature.
The poem “Design” talks about a white spider and a white moth. A moth becomes a prey of the white spider. In the poem a reader sees how the whole situation is developing. A moth is trying to hide from a spider on the flower. It seems that this poem does not have any deep thoughts in it except for describing a regular situation from the world of nature. However, if one becomes more attentive, it is easy to notice that the author is trying to show to the reader that some things are quite inevitable in life. There are certain situations when one is a spider, another is a moth and someone else is a flower. It does not usually mean if there is someone there for you that you will be eventually saved. It is quite possible that it will be the other way around. The poem “Design” shows the way the world is functioning.
The poem «Frost” is showing the readers that there are certain situations that can be not avoided in the life. However, it is important to remember that even nature can provide us with examples of the opposite. For instance, if a lioness has a little lion, she will always protect her child from the other predators. Most of the times she would be able to do so, because she is a very strong animal herself. In this situation a weaker creature will be saved by his or her mother. Therefore, it is important to understand that good things conquer evil too and not only a spider eats a moth, but also a moth can be smarter and be able to fly away and not be eaten.
Therefore, in this case the whole idea of the poem “Frost” by Robert Frost may be simplified. It is important to remember that evil creatures do win sometimes. However, it does happen the other way around as often as that bad way. The world is a much unexpected place and anything may happen. People can control everything which is going on around them. It is important to believe that good things are to happen and that the outcome of situation purely depends on your personal actions. Even in the situation that a reader can observe in the poem. In case a moth flies away in time, it will not be eaten by the spider. It is important to be able to correspond to the situation in time in order to be a winner in it no matter how bad the consequences and circumstances are.
In conclusion, it is necessary to state that one of the main ideas in the poem “Design” by Frost is that the author wants to show the reader how unfair the world can be sometimes. However, it is important to remember that there is no situations and issues that cannot be solved. The poem “Design” provides quite a pessimistic view of the world.
