People spend a lot of time trying to study leadership and what make a leader to be effective. Even though the effectiveness of a leader is abstract, there are numerous ways in which it is manifested, and as an employee, one can tell whether or not his or her boss is an effective leader by examining some traits that are universal to all effective leaders. In this paper I will describe why or why not is my boss an effective leader.
Description of why my boss is or is not an effective leader
An effective leader leads and inspires by actions. Therefore, the effectiveness of a leader can be seen from the way he or she exercise leadership. My boss inspires us by setting realistic visions and empowering us by removing all possible drawbacks that may constrain us from achieving the organization’s vision. Also, he is profoundly transformational. He believes in nurturing employees in a way that prepares them to become future leaders. Additionally, as an effective leader, my boss devotes persistent efforts in supporting and facilitating team work. He creates a supportive environment in the organization by ensuring that it is free from risk. This motivates us as employees to do our best to achieve the organizational goals. The ability to communicate effectively also determines the effectiveness of a leader in executing his or her duties. My boss delivers all the information concerning the staff members in a manner that every employee recommends. This enhances the effectiveness of his leadership.
Nevertheless, my boss possesses some traits that I feel impede the effectiveness of his leadership. An effective leader should be optimistic. In some instances, my boss tends to pin our motivation down by not fostering positive minds and nurturing optimism on employees. He doubts the capacity of the organization to achieve some objectives like globalizing. As such, I view him as ineffective in that area. Effective leaders should possess and uphold at all cost qualities that qualify a leader to be effective. Also, leaders should exercise leadership that portrays effectiveness.
