The meaning of “cohabitation effect”
Cohabitation effect refers to the risks and negative outcomes of the cohabitation. Cohabitation, on the other hand, is the process whereby young teenagers decide to stay together as couples just before marriage or adopt the ‘come we stay’ system of marriage. Therefore, cohabitation effect refers to the effects of staying together before and official marriage.
The use of the concept of ‘inertia’
In physics, inertia refers to stopping a moving vehicle or changing a trajectory of an already moving vehicle. A cohabiting relationship in this case is compared to a moving car. It is more challenging to rest a moving car that a stationary one. In most cases, cohabitation occurs to test whether both parties are compatible. After cohabitation, it becomes impossible to stop the relationship, thus leading unwillingly leading to marriage. However, if the parties never cohabited, it would be easy to end a relationship.
The concept “selection effect”
This refers to an individual selecting a spouse wisely and intellectually before cohabiting with them. It also refers to the outcomes that are associated with the kind of person decides to cohabit with prior to the marriage.
The concept of “protective”
If a couple slide into cohabiting, they do not decide what can be of crucial transition where constrains are favoring relationship continuance. They continued to point out that deciding is protective, which means that the couple is responsible for what might follow and chosen.

Ways in which thought of the authors might help succeed a relationship
First, cohabiting before or prior to marriage is risky. Secondly, sliding relationships are also unsafe, whether it is about sex, cohabiting or becoming pregnant. Thirdly, it would be fertile for a couple to opt for relationship education instead of cohabitation as a way of better understanding of themselves.
Personally, I would cohabit to understand my spouse better. However, before I decide to cohabit, I will first ensure that she is the dead-on being to marry. I will also ensure commitment between us.
